Sorry fogot to put £35 per month, Hero is £20
    Sorry again

That is a bad deal then.

Go to https://www.dialaphone.co.uk. They are offering the Hero on Orange for free with 1200xnet mins, unlimited texts and 500MB internet for £35/m. That's an automatic £10/m discount. In addition to that, you can also claim an extra £105 on top back through rebate (essentially 6 months half price line rental - which works out at around ~ £29.50).

I know you can't transfer your number from an Orange to orange account, but if you're quick, you can request a PAC code from Orange now, and transfer it to a free 02/Three/T-mobile sim, and again ask for your PAC code to transfer back to Orange on Dialaphones offer.

  • ok- please speak to me like i am an idiot, as I am!!

I started a new orange contract to get the phone i wanted. Just received the phone and after reading on here thought I would port PAC to a PAYG phone I have.,

Phoned to ask Orange for Pac and they were fine, however have now received a text saying cant port to orange only another network which i knew. They will still give me PAC though right?? I have a PAYG I want to use! They can obviously see that i have another orange contract already started so maybe i made a bit of a mistake on timing....

It's fine. Get your pac code now, transfer it to another payg sim, and then quickly order your pac code again. Orange usually allow a while to transfer your old number over.

    Good luck.

Ok my 18 month orange contract is up this week (been with them for about 9 years in total) so just looking into my options.

    Currently get:

    500 x-net mins (adequate)
100 texts (adequate but a few more would be nice)
Unlimited landline calls at all times (handy for work)

This costs me a fixed £24.57 per month including £5 for orange insurance. My total bill generally comes in at £28-£30.

    Couple of questions?

    1. Can i lower the cost on this? If so what £££ should i be looking for on a similar package?
    2. While lowering the cost could i get some internet chucked in? (Only light use)
    3. I need a new handset as my w890i is highly unreliable and falling apart - the Nokia 6303 or 6700 look like they could fit the bill - presume i could get these chucked in for free?
    4. Is the insurance worthwhile - i was strong armed into it about 4/5 years ago when i managed to lose 3 phones in the space of 4 months but don't think i've ever claimed since.

One final consideration is my Orange reception where i currently live is patchy (which is annoying) so thinking of jumping ship - could i get a simlar deal at Vodaphone (g/f is on that network and has no reception issues!)?

    I get 500 x mins
    500 texts
    a nokia N978GB (16months ago) for free

all for 24.57 I also have the unlimited home Broad Band from orange for £4 something which is rather handy.

I have 3 magic numbers so I never use all my mins etc.

So I think you could easily get £5 off and a top phone with some haggling (if you don't want/need it then ebay it). I was on the phone for a fair while 17months ago to get the woman to give me a N978GB (the most expensive phone at the time I believe) for free. I'm waiting till month 17, ask to leave etc and I am to get all of the above plus a HTC Hero and internet chucked in, or so I hope.

So wait till month 17, request to leave, compare some deals form other companies online to use as ammo to the person on the phone and haggle yourself a good deal.

And also I've never bothered with phone insurance, I think some household insurers cover it, or I seem to rememeber someone I knew got money off the police after it was lost. Not so sure on that one.
  • Hi all,

Been with Orange for a few years now and always look forward to the upgrade battles. Quite fancied the SE W995 so set out after that. Called them once, got offered some average deals so said I was going to cancel, and he cancelled me straight away! That wasn't part of the plan so rang back 5 minutes later, said I thought it might just have been a near jerk reaction (played the whole i want an iphone card) and asked for the best they could possibly do. Ended up with:

    SE W995 £90
400 x-net minutes (ample for me)
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited data (500mb)
    8gb memory card
    SE speakers

    18 months @ £9.57 a month

Tried desperately to get the phone for free but to no avail. Saved £5 a month by switching down from 600 minutes.

You guys reckon I got a good deal? Always have the cool down period if not!!

    Many thanks

I agree... I think that is a very good deal. 90 / 18months means you are paying £5 a month for your phone so add £5 to £9.57 means you are paying £14.57 and the phone is free. Very good.... (Does that make sense??)

You should also ask for free home Broadband as I get mine for free since Orange took Freeserve over. Tell them that O2 are doing free home broadband as they are. I spoke to O2 and they said they can match what Orange give me.

Well phoned up Orange today to confirm i was out of contract and asked to give my notice. I mentioned I felt i could get a better deal by moving away and was offered after a bit of pushing:

    Nokia 6303 free (i don't want/need a fancy touchscreen phone)
    400 xnet anytime mins
    300 texts (plenty for me)
Unlimited landline mins (handy for work)
    80mb data free
All for £9.78 per month on an 18 month contract.

I'm pretty sure i won't ever exceed my bundled mins/texts/data so i agreed to it as i'd only found one cheaper deal on the net but was on T-mobile - dodgy recption - and with cashback by redemption which i'd rather not bother with!

Is it a good offer or could i have got more?
  • hi 18 month contract coming to an end.

Would like tips on how to get a new deal, i am not very good at haggling
    Currently have
    400 x net mins
    unlimited texts

    would like
    10 x net mins
    unlimited texts
    unlimited internet
and maybe home broadband (does this have good coverage and is it reliable)

    Thanks
    Nice to save.
