I've also posted this on the main thread, but wondered if someone else could help me out... I hope it's okay to post it twice? I just don't really know what to do now!

I am SO disappointed with Orange! Been a customer of them for 7 years, first on pay as you go and then on contract for the last 5 years. My contract's coming to an end next month so I phoned up this morning and told them I was thinking of leaving, as I'd found some good deals with other companies. I don't really want to leave - I just hoped they'd offer me a good deal to renew, as I'm not really getting enough minutes at the moment. The man on the phone just said 'okay that's fine, your disconnection date is XXX and we'll send you a letter confirming it in the post. Thanks, bye!'. And that was that, end of conversation!

I must have paid them hundreds of pounds over the last few years; I had a phone bill of £180 off them once! So I can't believe they didn't even try and keep me - they have made me feel like the most UNvalued customer ever :( Really really annoyed actually, as it will be a real hassle to change providers and numbers etc - but what else can I do?

If I phone up and tell them I don't really want to move after all, will that blow all my chances of getting any good deals? Any advice appreciated! x

In your PAC letter it will have a standard paragraph along the lines of "were so sorry to lose such a valued customer, so before you leave please call us on _________ were we can discuss some fantastic offers"

This will be your 'q' to ask them "what can you offer me" or "I'm after the following" or "can you match the following deal" etc, etc.
  • I've followed these threads for a long time and thought I'd have a go.....my Dolphin 35 contract was up and I needed a new phone. I wanted the new Samsung jet but on a lower tarrif..........anyhow, several phone calls to retentions later and the best I could get was paying £127 for the handset, then 400 mins and unlimited text for £25 month............well I've held out and surprisingly have ended up with getting the handset for free, 600 mins, unlimited texts and free internet for £25 a month..........so thanks to this forum a massive saving. Also my partner managed to get his contract down to £10 month..........now off to do battle of the broadband as orange have put mine up to £20 month as I;m not on a llu exchange.......
  • Hi all,

I am due an upgrade soon and wondered if anyone out there knows which phones are the equivalent to the Apple Iphone?? I want to stay on Orange but want a phone to play music, games and make notes. Wish Apple would drop O2!!

Any ideas. I was told HTC Hero but couldn't find any good reviews online.

    TIA

I have an HTC Hero and really like it...am on Orange, but when I upgraded I went through Phones4U rather than Orange, as Orange wanted to charge me for the handset, while Phones4U gave it to me for free, and allowed me to keep my current contract (£16p/m for 400 odd mins and unlimited txts).

That's a good deal... I am going to wait until I am totally out of contract to haggle more as I can upgrade now (month 17) but they are limited to what they can do. Only have a month to wait...

Try calling Retentions again. Just say that you spoke to someone earlier and they said you would receive the PAC code by txt. Just drop into the conversation that your sad to be leaving but with the credit crunch you need to save a few pounds. Hopefully that will be enough to get an offer.

When did you get that deal and did you get it on line or in store? Sounds good that.
  • I'm not technically due to upgrade until mid october, but still got the deal! Upgraded in a Phones4U store. I think you have to be a minimum "band 2" customer (overheard them say that, but not *really* sure what it means...think you're meant to have spent a min. amount of money with them?).

It was a good deal, and I'm very happy with it (touch wood!)

18 months (plus the remainder left till october)? That's quite a good deal.
Try to imagine nothing ever existed...

Yes I am band 2. The guy in the orange shop told me and also showed me. The more you spend the higher the band you are and you then get the better phones. I down graded my tariff a couple of months ago by a fiver to save a few quid which was prob a bad move.

I'm gonna go and see Phones 4U at the weekend me thinks.
