  • i thought it was a terrible deal seeing as i can sign up on the orange website as a new customer and get both phones free, with 500mb data on each, and pay £34 per month. having to head out just now, but i might check if i can sign up to 2 new contracts on the new terms, get the above deal, and cancel my two existing lines on the basis that they are on the old terms and i dont agree to them

Just managed to get through to retentions. Said I wanted my PAC or see if they could offer me anything better (make sure you are polite with them - more likely to be helpful!). I got 100 mins (fine for me as dont use phone much), unlimited texts and a 18MB data bundle for £14.69 (said I dont use too much data so the new TandCs really wouldnt suit me). I really wanted the Samsung Jet and he was able to knock £20 off the price so I could get it for £107. Yes it was still expensive but the other packages, even on other networks would have been more expensive if you do the maths for a free phone but more expensive tarrif. I think you just have to be nice to them and they are nice too you!
  • I've been on the phone to retentions twice todayy - the first time I did the "I want an iPhone routine" (except I really do!). The operator was trying to wow me with an HTC Hero which I already love, however her package was terrible. I turned it down and I said I would keep looking. After scouring the Orange website it appears she was basically offering me the same as they offer new customers, less a couple of pounds.

I've just come off the phone again and went straight in with a PAC code request. This operator tried a lot harder but they cannot match the TMobile HTC Hero package of:

800 mins, unlimited txts, unlimited internet (I know it's not!), free HTC Hero, 18 month contract - £36.50

The best she could do was:
1200mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, free HTC Hero, 24 month contact, £34.21
    OR
Similar 18 month contracts - £45 a month free HTC Hero, £35 a month and pay about £77 for the phone.

Shocking! I thought they'd at least be able to match T-Mobile even if I was a new customer. For an existing customer with an average £44 a month spend over the last 18 months I would have expected more.

I requested my PAC code and I'm seriously considering using it. Orange have been great for the time I've been with them but it's a shame to see that they're clearly not competitive anymore.

I dont' know if it's any help or means anything to anyone (if it does let me know!) but apparently I am an IC3 when it comes to upgrade options?
  • I phoned a few weeks to cancel my contract due to the change of the terms and conditions.

The woman i spoke to was really nice though and said if i waited until the 5th of september to upgrade i can get a htc hero, unlimited txts, 1200 mins unlimited internet and orange maps for £29.99 a month.

She said she would phone back on the 5th and arrange it but im worried nobody will call and i wont be able to get that deal.
  • You can get the following Falcon:-

Orange HTC Hero 18mth 1200min unlim txt magic number, unlim internet 17.50(half price by redemption for 6mth) then £35 pm via mobile express plus £40 cashback via quidco.

  • Before I get too excited was that on an 18 or 24 month contract? I imagine the bottom will fall out of the HTC Hero packages once Orange/TMobile get the iPhone in the next couple of months (rumour).
  • I've had 3 OVP Virgin SIMs on Orange for years. Average spend is zero. Rang today to say I wanted to bring my main number back to O from o2. Got offered and took -

    Nokia 6700 - 900 xnet - unlimited landlines - 500 txts - 500mb data - 24 months for £19.57 inc.

I wasn't sure about the 24 month bit but went for it anyway. Just shows what can be done if you approach the sales dept right.

    i've been offered w995 (67 quid), 200 mins unlimited texts £14 pm.

Got them down from 127 for the phone but would like it free.
  • I think Orange have 'lost the plot' I've been on to them 3 times and been into an orange store but they simply don't want my loyalty I've been paying them £60+ a month for 2 years for 2 phones and been with them over 10 years but they won't budge on the price of a Blackberry curve - I've already moved my son's mobile to virgin- nice new nolia 5800 500 mins 3000 txts 'unlimited'?? internet but he can use the wifi at home anyway and free v-v calls so when my contract expires next week guess where i'm going?!
Orange have no interest in loyalty at the moment.
