I am currently in month 15 of an 18 month contract. My current talk plan is the racoon 35 discounted to £25 per month and my average spend per month is over £200.
[snip]
I wanted t0 get a 12 month contract with unlimited landline minutes so I could upgrade early but he said that he was unable to offer unlimited landline minutes on a 12 month contract. He said he could offer me a 12 month contract but the minutes would be low compared to my usage and that he wouldnt be able to offer such great deals on these.
Also whch of the latest phones would you guys recommend. I'm looking at possibly he Sony W995 or the Samsung Omnia HD.
Any views appreciated.
I think you need to look at your bill summary and see where the £200 is being incurred. If it's lots of texts or landline calls then you can get unlimited of one or other on 18 month plans. If you do have lots of mobile calls then look at the 3000 minutes but also remember the 1000 bonus minutes will also be on top of the 3000 minutes. If you do send a lot of txts abroad then ask them what they can do for you to reduce that cost.
If you get your bill down to £50 a month then on an 18 month contract you've for a potential saving of £2,400 - more than enough to buy whatever handset you want after 12 months. You could also consider that I don't think O will let you upgrade early on a 12 month contract so the real difference is 3 months.0 -
I have been offered the new sony ericsson w995 in black for free, 900 mins any time any network, unlimited text, free weekend and evening mobile internet, and free maps use of sat nav (was told its £5 a month otherwise) for £29.36.
Currently im paying £30 for 1000 mins and unlimited text.
update: Now been offered 800 mins, unlimited text, black w995, magic numbers roll over, 80 mega bytes internet roaming for £24.47.0 -
Hi, I've been reading these threads for a while and they have been very helpful.
I'm currently month 15 into an 18 month contract on Canary 30 where I get
400 cross net minutes
500 cross next texts
For £25 a month which is more than enough for me. However, I would now like a blackberry curve. I spoke to customer services today and they said I would have to pay £127 for the curve and £5 per month for the blackberry bundle, bringing my payments to £30 pm.
I of course said no and was put through to retentions where I was offered the following:
One of payment of £27 for the curve
600 mins
500 text
500mb
All for £29.36 pm (this has been discounted by £5pm).
I said I would think about it and call back. Does anyone think I can do any better with orange. To be honest what I get now is plenty for me I just want the 500mb thrown in for free so I don't go over £25 per month.
Does anyone think this is possible? Or not because I still have 3 months left on my current contract?
Many thanks.
T
Thank you for your replies.
Well I called orange again and spoke to a much nicer guy who was very helpful.
I have now been offered & accepted:
Blackberry Curve - £27
400 mins
300 text
500mb internet
Unlimited landline
For 24.48 per month. Even though it is less texts than before I'm still very happy as I only do a max of 200 text per month anyway. So it was worth phoning back!!!
TSaving for Xmas 2020 #7: £250/£6000 -

I have just upgraded and had the same deal as you for £20 with no cost for phone. I was not a high band customer and never went over my £25 contract. The best bit is because the 8900 incorporates UMA technology you have access to Orange Unique where you get an extra 1000 mins for calls to Orange mobiles and 01,02 & 03 and 30 international countries for free when started over your wireless connection. When you have the Unique bundles applied you are eligible to have their old Broadband Unlimited tariff for the grand cost of £5. Which provides 40GB downloads each month and a second phone line to make free calls to 01,02,03 and 30 international numbers 24/7.0 -

Currently paying just under 35 quid a month for 700 minutes, 250 texts, unlimited landline calls (contract expiring in september).
I actually called just to find out when my contract was expiring, and was informed of the date above, and also offered a new deal.
£24/month (18 months with 1200 xnet mins, 300 texts, unlimited landline calls with any of the following phones...
LG cookie, LG KS360, Samsung Tocco, Samsung Preston, Nokia 6500 slide, Nokia 6700.
Asked about Omnia HD or N97 (coming in a few weeks), and was told i'd have to pay hundreds!
I said I would ponder over the offer... Anyone reckon I can hold out for a better phone or a reduction in the line rental considering I still have just under 2 months on my current contract left? In all honesty, I don't even need that many minutes, I can make do with the nearly half that amount, lol!Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0 -
Early upgrades are always rubbish. That isn't network specific. Patience, grasshopper.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I am currently in month 15 of an 18 month contract. My current talk plan is the racoon 35 discounted to £25 per month and my average spend per month is over £200. I decided to call orange retentions today to see what they could offer me and was offered the following.
Option A
18 month contract
Any choice of phone
2200 minutes (1200 plus additional 1000 minutes)
Unlimited landline minutes
500 texts
500MB of browsing
£19.58 a month
Option B
18 moth contract
Any choice of phone
Unlimited minutes to any network
Unlimited landline minutes
1000 texts
500B of browsing
Free Maps
£34.25 a month
I was a bit wary of the second option when he said unlimited minutes to any mobile but he said they have that on their website and its called the racoon 75 talk plan and that he was effectively discounting it by £40 for me. However having checked the orange website it says that the allowance is just 3000 minutes and not unlimited as stated by the retentions representative.
Considering how much I spend does anyone think either of these deals are good value or is there anything else I could possibly push for? I tend to text abroad alot from the UK and also do you think I could push for a free internet dongle for my laptop with free internet usage?
I am also a high user - less than you, but still quite high. I was also wondering about the prospect of getting a broadband dongle thrown in. How did you get on? Have others had success with this?0 -
just upgraded last night got the following deal:-
Free Blackberry 8900 Curve
1800 Minutes any network mins
Free Landline Calls
Unlimited Browsing
Sat Nav Maps
Free Blackberry Push Package
Unlimited Texts
£19.58 a month0 -
