My Dolphin 30 contract is up at the end of June.

    Just called and been offered

Nokia 5800 for one off payment of £17
    400 mins
    300 texts
    500 mb internet

    £14.67 per month

Is this a good deal or just average?
It's certainly above average. If that matches your needs then it's one to go for.

I also would like to upgrade to the Nokia 5800, but I have no idea how much internet data do I need?
I am mainly going to use the internet on it when I am at college (wifi spot) and only here and there while on the go so actualy being reliant on the internet supplied by Orange.
So is 500mb enough for this kind of usage?

And anyone has any experience with Nokia 5800 please? Apparently is as good as Iphone? (I don't want all the applications, I just want internet)

    Hi folks
been reading these boards for years, here is what i got from Orange last night.
Was on "select 500" for years 500 mins 100 text for £25 a month, it suited me but past while my usage went a bit over averaging £50 a month or more sometimes.
Band 4 customer was told, Lg km900 arena, 800 mins x network anytime, 300 texts, unlimited landline calls, magic number, 80meg data a month, 4 gig memory card, lg 770 bluetooth headset, car charger, for £14.68 18 month contract.

    Just called Orange.
Put through to upgrades, was quoted £23 a month for Nokia N85, 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.
I said I wasn't happy, so would like my PAC code please.
    Put through to retentions.
Offered Nokia N85, 200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet for £14.67. I asked for 300 minutes, they said they could do the same offer but 400 minutes and £15 for the phone.
    All in all:
400 Minutes (any network, any time).
Unlimited Texts (any network, any time).
    Unlimited Internet
    for
£14.67 a month plus a £15 one off fee for the phone.
Pretty good I think, was spending £35 a month for 600 minutes and unlimited texts before hand!
My tip - Don't bother accepting what sales have, hear them out. Negotiate but tell them you want your PAC code so you can go look in shops.
Retentions are the big daddys of cheap!

Called orange on my lunch to give my notice was offered £15 pm with a tocco with less mins and texts than currently have - couldn't take it as need the mins said that i would keep my options open!

Called Orange again last night to give my notice - he asked me why was i leaving etc, i said because i wanted a better deal!

He then asked me what kind of deal i was looking for and explained that i was looking for something similar (600 mins/unlimited text = £35 pm) for around £10-15 with a new phone preferably on a 12 month contract.

He then offered me 800 mins/unlimited texts with a samsung preston i asked about the internet and he threw that in for £20 pm

I would say its a pretty good deal but what do you think?
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos

Did you get the Curve Today? Ive been checking online on Orange and it always seems to say out of stock! Been like that for weeks....
  • Havent received it yet. On phone he said he'll check stock for me and then he confirmed that I'll get it via courier on Monday. Not quite sure as it's not 3G but then again I dont use browsing that much anyway.

500MB is more than sufficient for that (being on Wi-Fi does not take up data usage). The 5800 is not as good as the iPhone in my opinion, but is still a very good phone, and you're getting more value for money with it.

Providing you're going to use those minutes and a lot of texts and internet, that is a very decent deal.

Blackberry deals are traditionally more expensive, so that is an excellent deal.

Two good deals there. Well done.

There's been a good run of deals in the thread in the past couple of weeks. Good to see :)
