big bad ben - it is unfortunately complicated regarding going back to orange. I was doing my finals at the time, and there were issues regarding trying to go onto another contract with a different provider. Although I did cancel the original contract to go elsewhere, with all the trouble I was having, going back to orange was just the simpler and less stressful option. As that 'man' (or piece of slime, you chose!) was the only bit of bad customer service I had had with orange despite 2 years contract with them previously, I decided to give it another go. So far after 3 more years no problemo!

Thanks for the advice ben - I have been thinking that there must be some better deals out there :)

I really meant that if you've had poor CS with Orange in the past, why do you want to stay with them after your contract expires this September...

However, I understand that you shouldn't tar all of the CS advisers with the same brush - it'd be a shame to miss out on a good deal because of one bad apple. Good luck with the negotiations!

    Been offered today:

Sony Ericsson W595 400 mins, 300 txt, unlimited landline mins for £9.78 18 months or £17.42 12 months.

Sony Ericsson W705 same deal as above £9.78 18 months or £22.51 12 months

The 705 18 month deal seems pretty good to me, unfortunately I had my heart set on a W715 with the GPS, which only Vodafone do at present.

^ Those are both good 18 month deals. I'd have no hesitation in picking the phone you want out of those two and going with that.

You dont need to lose your number. Get a PAC Code and take it over to a free PAYG chip.

Then a couple weeks after porting to the PAYG get the PAC from them and port it back to Orange.

You can port your number onto orange anytime - i just did it for my girlfriend. I even told them I was doing it and they couldnt do anything about it!

    Get one back on them

Hihi.. i have got my PAC code from orange. should i pac it to another network PAYG or just pac it to orange PAYG?
I want to get the samsung tocco ultra as a new customer to get it for free but also to keep my existing number.
    thanks

You need to PAC it out of the network. You can't PAC between the same network. So PAC it to virgin or something, then back into orange on your new contract.

I spend around £25 a month for 200 X-net minutes (fiance is on magic number so 200 mins is adequate) and unlimited texts. My phone is a K800i - I was given a K850i but hated it so slung it in a drawer and bought a K800i on PAYG.

Anyway, I called, said I was leaving to go to O2 but had heard they might be able to give me a good deal if I stayed. They offered me:

    200 X-net minutes
    Unlimited texts
    80Mb internet
    Sony Ericsson C510
on an 18-month contract for £9.79 a month.

Is this a good deal MSErs? I'm supposed to be being called back this evening so would like to decide by then!

I think this is a good deal considering you are making a saving of about £15 off what you were paying before. Besides you are getting a new phone(haven't checked specs) and 80 MB internet as well. I would say go for it if you are cool with the number of mins.

NB: Have just checked https://www.gsmarena.com for the specs of the phone and it looks alright.

Looks like an excellent deal to me. Shows the savings you can make if you don't want a top end phone.

Been with Orange for 15 years. Currently ending 18 month talk share with 9 phones. They wont even offer the same deal. Changing to monthly sim only and saving 50%
