Orange Retention Offers
Comments
-
My contract was up with orange last week and I had been paying £35/month for
200 mins
500 texts
and managed to get
400 mins
unlimited texts
unlimited internet
bluetooth headset
Sony EricssonW595
for £19.50
I know the phone isn't the most singing and dancing but it's the one I wanted!0 -

The Comes With Music tariffs are different, and the above combination is not one of them. You should be aware that you may not be offered the same thing on Friday. No one can be sure how flexible they will be until they are officially released.
I don't mind paying a tiny bit more, but if I get a much worse deal I'll just go for the normal phone without the music I think.0 -
The girl on the phone said that i'd definately be able to get that deal, but I suppose that retention offers are never definate.

I would not expect it to be a great deal more, you have been a high spender in the past. Best thing to do is make sure you speak to the same person when you call back!Gone ... or have I?0 -
I was dead chuffed with the offer they gave me on Tuesday (see previous post - 400 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data, Nokia N85 for £65.50, cost of £9.79 a month), but I've just called them up now to register my new SIM Card, and lo and behold, the system has no sign at all of the unlimited data that they agreed to give me.
The person I spoke to was unable to contact the person that originally made the offer to me (someone called Amanda), but has sent an email to her supervisor, asking Amanda to call me.
I'm really annoyed - The unlimited data bundle they offered me was the thing that persuaded me to take the deal. If they renege on that promise, then I'm just going to return the phone to them and go elsewhere.
I suggested that someone could just listen to the transcript of the call, to prove that Amanda offered me the data bundle - Apparently they don't record all calls though (very convenient).
Very annoyed...
Update (29/05/09):
After speaking to another two people from Orange, the unlimited data has magically appeared on my account - Whew! Happy bunny again now.0 -
A little shocked and disappointed with Orange.
19 months ago I phoned up to genuinely cancel contract, i.e not trying it on to skank an upgrade. Anyway, they did offer a deal at £10 pcm with a SE W610i thrown in, which I accepted. At the end of this 18 month contract period, without warning they started taking £25 which I think is a darn cheek especially when their records would show just how little the phone is used. I phoned up to cancel and also said how disingenuous I thought it was to more than double the cost and also without warning. Surprisingly, they just said okay and goodbye. This is fine as I don't really want to extend the contract but I am surprised that they didn't make any kind of token gesture to try and keep me.
So, goodbye Orange.0 -

Seems you were spot on here, the comes with music was on seemingly rubbish deals, I was offered that phone with 500 mins and 300 texts...which is the opposite of how I use my phone!
So I went for just the normal 5800, I decided that 400 mins that I was offered before probably wasn't enough for me, so I changed it to 800. This put the month price up to £25 though. All in all i'm pretty happy though.0 -

The discounts only apply for as long as that contract. As I suggested here:

before DMG shot me down.
It is a shame they didn't try and keep you though.0 -
I renewed my contract today
400 x mins
300 texts
1mb data (which is all i use at the most each month!)
18 mth contract
Nokia 5800
£15 a month.
didn't think that was too bad for my spend level and will half my monthly bills as they are at the moment.0 -

Please elaborate on how I 'shot you down'. I stated my knowledge from personal experience. It is not my problem if you cannot take costructive feedback!Gone ... or have I?0 -

Sorry to hear that, I was hoping to get the same deal!
Back to the drawing board for me, but think I will go for a cheaper phone (probably the 6220) on a lower tariff.Gone ... or have I?0
