Orange Retention Offers

Got offered a deal today when I called up because I am genuinely intending to get an iphone and wondering what people think:
LG Arena KM900 with free 8MB SD card
Unlimited internet
400 minutes
Unlimited texts
18 month contract
£19.57
I thought this was a good deal but after reading what people are saying about the 5800. Should I take this deal, push for something better either with this or with the Nokia or go with the iphone after all? (yes, I know, £35 a month *aaargh* but it's so pretty...)0 -

I also got the nokia 5800 and I'm really happy with it to be honest. So yea, if you really really want the iphone go to o2, but the nokia is a good phone and for £19.57 that's a good deal.0 -
I haven't called up yet but have a feeling they are going to tell me that I'll have to pay a lot towards the phone I want w995. I have seen the phone on other outlets - phones4u and carphonewarehouse and they are offering new customers exactly the same deal I'm on with the phone for free!! If I say I want to leave and transfer my number to a payg sim then would I be able to transfer that to a new contract? I really don't want to loose my number had it for years , its part of me!!0

Was on 18 month Dolphin25, 200 Mins, unlimited texts with evening and weekend data bolt on. Bills ranged from just over £30 to a high of £39, probably averaged about £34.
Through retentions paid one off £50 payment for the Sony Ericsson W995 handset and got 400 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data for £14.60 something a month. Pleased with that.0 -

That's very cool - the W995 isn't even showing as available on the Orange website yet! Good deal.Christina1982 wrote: »I haven't called up yet but have a feeling they are going to tell me that I'll have to pay a lot towards the phone I want w995. I'm on Dolphin 25 (200 minutes, unlimited texts) and I pay about a fiver a month for 500mb of mobile data - with my loyalty discount from the last time I went through Orange retentions I pay around £20 a month. I went into Phones4U in Birmingham on Tuesday and came out with a W995 (for free!) and 10% off my bill for the next 18 months - and as I was just extending my contract I got to keep my number too...
I was a bit hesitant about going into Phones4U as I've found in the past that they rely on hard sales tactics, however the staff at the Bullring branch were very friendly and it was an altogether painless experience - recommended! And the W995 is an awesome phone - so much better than the Nokia N85 I had for a couple of days last week.0 -

Well I upgraded via orange - went from dolphin 30 to dolphin 35, insurance and 250mb and w995 for free. Works out about the same as taking out a new contract and I get to keep my number, couldn't be bothered changing it had it for years.
Might have been able to get a better deal but I'm happy. Arrives tomorrow!!!0 -
Hi,
Has anyone had any experience of the above phone, or experience ugrading to this phone with Orange?
I'm currently on a Dolphin 35 18 month contract that has ended. My average spend per month is around £39. Ideally I would like to get the phone for free on a £35 a month contract (or less if possible!), with internet browsing thrown in.
Does this sound possible, or is it too ambitious?
I will leave it a couple of days to gauge opinion and then give them a call. If I can't get that deal then I'm going to cancel the contract anyway and get a similar phone as a new customer elsewhere. Quite liking the look of the new HTC Touch Pro 2 with the slide out keyboard - different phone to the Omnia but I'm between the two anyway!
Thanks in advance for any help.0
