Orange Retention Offers

Thanks for your reply. They normally tend to say that the offer is only valid for today etc. or is that to try and tempt you to take the deal?"MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0

I have moved from Orange PAYG to a monthly contract as I was topping up by about £20 a month and getting 300-600 free texts as a result.
Told them I was off to Virgin's £8.50 a month free phone/100 mins/100 texts offer.
I got the following
Samsung G600
200 mins to other mobiles
300 texts
unlimited calls to UK landlines
80MB of internet browsing
free broadband
£9.79 a month for 18 months
Thought I did well but after looking here I think I could have done better.
How is Orange Broadband? I have Virgin cable 10MB at the moment - the service is fine but once my contract ends in July they want £25 a month (up from £15) at the moment.0 -
Just spoken to retentions, have agreed for £9.79/month (18 months):
Nokia N85 + memory card, stereo headset, car charger and cradle
400 mins
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet
Phone cost £48 so effective cost per month is £12.46
Good deal?0 -
That sounds like a really good deal!0

Yep, thats a very good deal. Bite their hand off...Unlimited internet is at least £5 a month. I could only wish 3 was able to offer something like this, then I would have stayed.0 -
It didn't take much negotiating to get that - he started offering 200 mins for £10 and 400 for £15. He said the phone charge could not be waived on the £10/month contract but he could put in £50 worth of accessories instead. I didn't play around with prices for different phone at all because I was after the N79 or N85 (not too keen on the new purely touch screen phones such as HTC).
My average monthly spend is high btw - £30/month contract with £7.50/month internet bolton, and a £150 roaming bill back in January!0 -
Has anyone had any problems with retention offers being applied correctly or anything? Just thought all I have was the man's word, no email with contract details or anything. I'm worried they will forget to put unlimited internet on the account or something and then claim they have no record of it.0

Request a letter confirming details of upgrade in the post. Always try to get things in writing if you can. Otherwise after he said its been applied to the account, call up a couple of days later and get a 2nd CS person to confirm what's been put on and what the charge would be from next billing. If you're told different things then something isn't right and you have 7-14 days to cancel the upgrade.
Get the guys name and to request upgrade details to be noted against the account for future reference.
Sorry, I'm not with Orange, but based on experience with 3 and the lies they tell, I wouldn't trust anything they say without written confirmation.0 -
Hi
Sorry for being very blonde here!
My contract is due for upgrade on 4th June, I've been with orange for over 6 years contract my bill os approx £50 a month - what should I do? How do you get though to retentions? as I'm after the W959 (the new one!) whn its released and I think due to me being a loyal customer and the fact that my bill is approx £50 a month I should get it...what you think?0 -
