what attractive retention plans have people got for sim only deals?

e.g. switching from a contract that came with a phones circa £35 and asking for a cheapest possible contract after finishing?

Generally very little, if anything, is offered for SIM only deals. You tend to get more by going for a contract with a very basic phone. Just ask them for the cheapest deal possible and see what they come up with. My contract is now only £10 a month for 700 minutes, 300 texts and unlimited landlines, which is normally a £35 a month tariff. I got a G600 as well, which is by no means a shabby phone.

You don't hardly get anything for a SIM only deal - straight away. I was informed by Orange that after 90 days on a SIM only deal they can then "negotiate" with you.

Just had the same here, I was just told that it would be cheaper for me to take out a new contract as they would have to charge me for the phone I wanted!!!!

After 4 years, it's time for me to say goodbye to Orange.

I have cancelled my account, can anyone confirm that after my 30 days notice I can keep the sim as PAY AS YOU GO or does it get cancelled?

    Many Thanks in advance

did u request for a PAS AS YOU GO simcard send out to u?

if u did. apparently u need to ring them to register once u receive the simcard. n u have to do it before ur contract ran out in order to keep your number.

please find out as I m in the same position as you.

What phone r u getting? I really like the samsung tocco ultra. but i think in a month time this phone should be cheaper considering the new samsung omnia is coming out n also sony ericosson idou..

What deal were you on? It is highly unlikely that that person was correct in what they were saying. Cancelling your contract was rash; you should have rang back.

Same to you. Did you actually check the available deals for taking out that new phone on a new contract? It probably would have been cheaper than you think. Unless your expectations were unrealistic to begin with. If you're on, say, a £15 tariff you're not going to be able to get the Tocco Ultra for free because you're not spending enough to warrant it. You would barely spend enough over 18 months to cover the cost of the phone!

My current contract is the racoon 35. but i got it abt 17months ago when they have the 10pounds off from 35? So i only need to pay 25. but they reduced the price again for me after 6months. so i only need to pay 20pounds.

Well the thing is i dont mind paying 30pounds or even 35pounds to get the tocco ultra for free. Since as a new customer u can get it for free?

I don't think i m a bit rash here, I ve rang them 3 times n the answers I got from them are the same. What do you recko?

I don't really know what to say. I think you have just been unlucky with the people you've got through to. There are people on here who have gotten decent deals with the Tocco Ultra. It's an in demand phone at the moment that is difficult to get deals with on Orange, but people have managed it.
