My wife, myself and my daughter all have a phone on one account (3 phones in all) our monthly spend is about £105 per month combined.

we are due for renewal soon and we would all like blackberry's.

can anyone tell me what deal we could expect and what level of customer we are?

    many thanks

    Chris
What you spend together doesn't make a difference. What do you spend individually?

    and

    nokia 6220
    400 minutes - unlimited texts & internet
    £20/month

still going to wait a bit longer, asked for a call back on the 20th and to leave these deals on a note.
I think you could probably do a little better than those deals, but it depends on the amount of credit you have. What is/was your monthly spend?

Be wary about doing this. There is always an element of risk involved, especially if you don't do your homework.

    Hi Crazy Jamie,
Does the "unlimited browsing" deal not just mean 500mb a month "fair usage"?

Also, has anyone come across a good deal on roaming, I'm here in Northern Ireland and when working down south (ROI), Orange RIP THE **** out of the roaming charges.
I used to have a Metor sim but I would rather not go to that trouble again.
My wife has a 3 phone and 3's Just like Home service is AMAZING! It's the only thing which is luring me away from Orange!

    Thanks,
    flipdee
Yes effectively the unlimited browsing will have a fair usage cap applied. But it is generally very difficult to hit that cap unless you're on the internet on your phone an awful lot.

Unfortunately I can't help with the roaming charges. Not my area of expertise at all.

    Varies as I downgraded
average over 17 bills is £35.
a little confused as looking over the bills, as I've not used the service for 17 months, only 16, yet i've paid for this months bill already? 16th of april to 17th of may? is this how they work?

so orange do not allow you to sell phones on some occasions?

I'm not sure how they would stop you selling a phone?

Only the last six months' spend is counted. In terms of the bills, yes that is how Orange work. You pay one month in advance.

Orange won't stop you selling the phone. But the value of phones can fluctuate, and certain things can decrease the value. For example, if it is locked on Orange you won't get as much for it (you can unlock it, but this would involve actually taking it out of the packaging, which also decreases the value). You will also get less if it is branded (i.e. has the Orange logo on it), which certain phones will be. These are things that people rarely take into account and it can make the whole exercise pointless and end up costing money. Unless you have a sure fire deal with a stellar phone that you know will save you money when selling the phone, I would avoid that and push for a cheaper tariff.

For example, I was originally offered as part of a retention deal Racoon 35 (700 minutes, 100 texts and unlimited landlines) for £25 a month with a C905. I took that deal and then canceled the contract within a few days (wanted something cheaper). If I had sold the phone (it was locked and branded) I would have been lucky to get £200 for it (at the time it was about £350 new on pay as you go), which averages out at £11 off a month for the best case scenario.

As it happens my next deal (which I accepted and am now) is 700 minutes, 300 texts, unlimited landlines, and a Samsung G600 (Only worth about £50 but using as a backup phone) for £9.79. So negotiating on price netted me a much better deal even though selling the phone may have been tempting.

my average over hte last six months has been £30.

I see what you mean about the phone, although 700 minutes 300 texts for £10, thats a bargain! At the moment as it seems the tarrif that I want (400 minutes minimum, unlimited texts & internet) they can only offer to me for £15/month.
Ideally I'd like to get that tarrif for £10/month, or more minutes + better phone (to use internet) for £15/month.

I was wondering, do they offer orange care for free sometimes?

With a £30 spend that's not necessarily unrealistic. You just need to get the right advisor at the right time. Call close to the end of your contract, and also call later at night. Apparently that made a difference to the deal that I got (whether that is because the advisor was apathetic and wanted me to go away I don't know, but he used that as an excuse).

Not that I know of, but I wouldn't rule it out. Though if you get a cheaper phone for free with a lower tariff, that can act as your backup and avoids the need for insurance.

    update:

1 number ported out after Vodafone failed to cancel

Second number has £10 off ongoing until a suitable Unique handset is released, so Racoon 25 for £9.97 - 300 mins 100 texts & unlimited landlines with Unique bundle - with no contract tie in ! so all is good considering retentions were offering NO discount on standard website deals as a upgrade with a basic ( un-Unique ) handset, so settled on a £10 discount thats not a loyalty discount on Orange's system ? via Exec Office ( the saints they are )
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    flipdee,

Go 3, I have a secondary 3 contract ontop of my Orange, saves a fortune !

Have used 3LH in Europe & Australia - saved an absolute fortune, well worth it, Orange roaming even on head office's Orange France is expensive as hell so rest assured even Orange measly roaming bundles dont cut the mustard in general, let alone with the SUPERB 3LH, I divert Orange to 3 worldwide as incoming calls are cheaper on 3 - only Unique makes me stay Orange @ home.

Not retensions, but on a rolling contract as my 18 months is up on the 11th May I spoke to orange and got.

    150 minutes / Unlimited Texts (£15) + 5 photo messages (£1) = £16 PM - loyalty discount (£5) = £11 PM

Had to have the photo messaging (£1) to get the deal though.

This will be the 1st time Im not upgrading my phone after 12 years with orange.

How much do you spend at the moment per month? I think you can do better than that.
