just been on the phone with them,

    they offered me

    nokia 5800
700 minutes unlimited texts and internet
    £20/month

I am very tempted, except I do not use anywhere near 700 minutes, more like 200-300 minutes.
He explained that the way it worke was that he was giving me 300 extra minutes, and a £5 discount (ie 400 + 300 at £25/month - £5/month making it £20/month)

i don't finish my contract until mid june so perhaps i should phone later?

i would love your views asap as if i want to take this deal up i need to phone him back asap

Sounds like you got through someone who didn't know how to or wasn't inclined to offer you a good deal.

From previous posts on here it seems like if you try a few times you might get a better result from another agent. A bit like pot luck. Obviously there are limitations, but doesn't seem like you were offered much at all in the way of a good deal
Tried again this morning. Got through to a much more helpful person - was offered the same deal as Three for the E71 at £22ish initially, but after going through lots of other possibilities got this down to £14.68 (+£15 for the phone) which included:

200 mins, Unlimited texts, 80mb data usage - 18 months contract

Was also offered Sony Ericsson C510, Samsung G600 or LG Cookie for £9.79 for the same package (again £15 one-off for the phone).

I finally settled on the Nokia 5800 for £15 and £14.68/month with:

    200 mins
    300 texts
    Unlimited landline calls
    80mb data allowance

Could have had the Sony Ericsson W705 or Samsung Tocco for free instead of the 5800.

I thought that was about as good as I was going to get - so the phone's coming on Wednesday :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
UPDATE : my upgraded 1st contract with the Nokia 6301 has been replaced with HTC Touch 3G by Exec Office as I noticed on the business site the handset it is Unique supported so I asked for it as I still have the Nokia 6301 from last year so not really a upgrade !, so got an exchange from Exec
which is same process as last year getting Exec to send me a Unique supported Blackberry to replace the endless Nokia Unique that had faults, Blackberry - only advertised on business.orange.co.uk as Unique supported ! )

Exec Office must be sick of the Orange management decisions & sorting them out ! Angels the Exec Team ;)

2nd contract has now PAC'd out to Voda & complete on Tues, 2 years 9 months of the extra 2000 mins has came to an end & no discount ( not even a fiver ) on standard plans ? #Strange given last three bills on the number have been a total almost £200 for them months @ £70 a month & out of contract since August 08 LOYALTY is a strange thing indeed at Orange !!

the 3rd contract I have been told by retentions to come back on billing date ( when contract is complete ) as billing recalculations have still not applied the £100 credit due & computer is having NONE of it
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

The problem is getting the 5800 on £15 a month, which may be difficult depending on your credit. Certainly ask them to put that offer on file and ring towards the end of your contract though. You may be able to knock that price down.

to put it on file? the guy didnt seem to believe he could "save" the offer as such. He said they change every day.

I didnt choose the 5800, it was the only one available on the deal.
I'll ring back in a couple of days and start over. hopefully i'll get a £15 or sub £15 deal with a reasonable amount of minutes but with internet etc

i'm not really sure how the credit thing works, i've downgraded my contract once but my bills range from £50 to £25. the last few being £25, and £50 being a two time thing

He can note on your account that he offered that deal. If he has to say that it may not be available next time you ring then so be it, but he can note that he made it so you have something to start from at least.

My advice would be to wait until you're within a month of your contract ending, and call a few times until you get someone helpful who knows the system well. Take your time and play around with the deal.

I opted for upgrade this week - without any threats to leave - I just phoned Orange and said I wanted to upgrade.
I am currently on dolphin 30 - although I got it for 25/month.

The lady on the end of the phone did some jiggery pokery before telling me that I could have the phone I wanted (Tocco ultra) for nowt, plus 900 free minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and unlimited sat nav.....all for 24.47 a month.

    Bargain methinks.....
Tocco arrived yesterday......still getting used to it. But when I've tried to use sat nav, it says it's not available....

I've spent 35 minutes on the phone to Orange tonight, only for them to say that I have no data package on my account....thus meaning no internet or sat nav, unless I pay extra for it.....

Apparently I was dealt with by retentions and not upgrades - and I can't speak to them until the morning...not happy at the mo tho!!

And if anyone can tell me how to get rid of the "no events" message on the homescreen, I'd be your friend forever....!!!!
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

  • My current contract has just expired and I spoke to the upgrade team and they offered the following deal,

    HTC Touch HD - free
300 mins + 400txt + free landline calls and Internet
    £29p/m on 18mth contract.

Could anyone let me know if this is a good deal ?

doesn't sound that great to me, did you speak to the upgrade team or the retentions team?
  • hi, my 18 month contract expired a few months ago and I'm wondering what deal I can get out of Orange.

    I was on:
Racoon 35 18 month contract with:
    - 500 cross network minutes
    - 200 text messages
    - 250 fixed landline minutes
    - free unlimited broadband
    - free UK evening & weekend calls from the broadband phone
    - paying £35 per month

I've got a work mobile and so don't need as many minutes. As a minimum I would like to get:
    - atleast 500 cross network mins
    - 100 texts
    - continue to get free broadband
    - continue to get the free broadband calls - or even free international calls
    - pay less per month than I'm doing now
    extras, if possible I'd like:
    - a better phone
    - free/ discounted mobile internet usb thingy

any ideas/ help on what you think i might be able to get would be most appreciated

    cheers
