Orange Retention Offers

My contract ended yesterday according to Orange. I went onto the Orange website and selected to renew my contract, because i was afraid if i didn't orange would automatically renew my dolphin 35 contract and i would therefore be paying for calling minutes that i would never use. I WAS on dolphin 35 paying at least £40 per month. I selected there lowest dolphin plan which was priced at around £20 for 200 anytime minutes and Unlimited Text Messaging.
I'm also wanting to upgrade my phone, can i renew my service plan THEN when i can afford it (wanting to upgrade to a Nokia N96 but need to pay £215 - £40 promotional discount = £175), choose to upgrade my phone? Probably next week.
Is there any reason why you didn't call Orange to discuss upgrades? There's lots of information on the Orange Retentions thread on this forum regarding 'tips' on achieving the best deal. Usually if you threaten to leave the network, they'll put you through to the retentions department who may be able to offer you a greater discount on your preferred phone.I'm also needing to call Orange and arrange for a new SIM card to be sent to me, as i lost it with the phone. Is this just a simple case of canceling the old SIM card and sending out the new one?
Orange have always sent a new sim out to me with every new upgraded phone. You could have called Orange when you lost the phone and asked them to cancel the SIM then. As far as I know, they would't have charged you for losing it, and would have either offered to send you a new SIM (with a charge of course) or suggested you keep up your contractual payments until the end of your term.I have an outstanding balance on this contract which has not been paid from last month. What are the chances of Orange scrubbing this outstanding balance of £39.16 from my account? As i haven't used the phone at all since February 14th or am i clutching at straws?
I'd say you have NO chance of negotiating any sort of deal with an outstanding balance on your account, but I may be wrong. Even if they do agree to scrub this balance, you'll then be in no position to negotiate any sort of deal on your next contract. Your best option would be to wait until you have the money to pay the balance, and then call to negotiate an upgrade. Don't wait until this outstanding balance falls into arrears though. And how long do i have to buy the Nokia N96 from Orange WITH the promotional discount attached? I believe it's a discount for customers renewing contracts?
I hope someone can shed some light on this!
Orange change their deals continuously, again, take a look at the Retentions thread - lots of useful info there. The N96, whilst a reasonable phone, isn't the best phone on Orange by a long shot, so you may be able to get a decent price on it.0 -
Wondering if anyone has any advice for me.
Have been with Orange on contract for over 7yrs. Current contract ends in 2 mths (June)
On now:
£13.50 p/m (£15 with 10% loyalty)
100 texts
250mins
I use on average 50 txt p/m and 60mins, So am a low user.
I want to upgrade to the new LG Arena (KM900) so called retentions today and they only offered me :
Option 1 - Stay on same tarrif and pay £195 for the phone
Option 2 - Upgrade to £24 p/m (400mins/unlimited txt) and pay £65 for phone
Both deals seem rubbish to me. Was prepared to pay up to £100 for phone on my tarrif. Should I call them back again ? Will they offer me better deal?0 -
If you've been offered that by upgrades, tell them no and ask for your pac code. This will get you a call from retentions who may be able to give you a better deal.
If you have been offered this by retentions, you can try calling them again, some of the agents that have been there a while know how to play the system to get a better deal. It's worth a try...
There is a limit, the system will only allow them off offer certain things (and they have no way of over riding it).0 -

Thanks very much for that. I called upgrades and was put through to retentions and thats when they offered me the above.
I will call them again in a few weeks when my contract is in the last month. Sorry, but what is a 'pac code' and what does it do? Will it change the offers I get?0 -
A PAC code is used to change your number from one company to another. Say you wanted to move to O2 but wanted to keep your number- you'd get the PAC code off Orange and give it to O2, who would transfer your number. Requesting your PAC code is a good bargaining tool because it shows Orange that you're serious about moving if you don't get the right deal. Once you request it you don't actually have to use it, and if you do nothing then nothing will happen, but you will nearly always get a better retention offer after you've requested it."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? Have blackberry pearl, biz cstmr, email only. Out of contract and now want to add talk. Have been offered 300 mins, 100 texts for £21.28, plus email £4.25. Is this a good deal?0

After requesting my PAC and following up with Orange (spoke to a very nice guy btw), I've got the following offer:
Samsung Tocco Ultra for £50
600 mins
unlimited texts
unlimited web browsing
18 month contract
£19.57pm
They did offer all of the above but with the phone being free for £24.46pm, but the other deal works out better.
The phone arrives tomorrow and am so excited!!0 -

Business retentions don't work quite the same way as normal CS. You get other benefits being a business customer, but that looks like a reasonable deal...0 -
