I've just been offered the following by Orange as an upgrade:

    200 anytime/any network minutes
    unlimited texts
    Sony Ericsson C905 handset
    All for £18 a month

They initially wanted £127 for the phone, but they waived that and then knocked £2 off the monthly line rental to make it £18.

Anyone think this is any good?

That's alright if it's what you want. The tariff is nothing special for the price, but the phone is significantly better than you would ordinarily expect for paying that amount. So it balances out.

Spoke to orange few weeks ago with 150 number, called a few times,
Best they came up with was:
    600mins/500texts
    'unlimted' landline
    'unlimted' internet
    |@ £25 PCM
But wanted just under £200 for the Touch HD
Or around £150 for the C905
Perhaps I was going in a little high with the handsets? ;)

Anyway, called today with number on PAC code letter,
Though I'd ask for a N85 as it ticks the boxes for me and seems to be free on most packages to new customers now. Been offered the following:

    600mins/300texts
    unlimted landline
    unlimited internet
    @ £25
    N85: £107

the alternative was to pay more for the phone and get internet in £20 which would be cheaper in long run:

    600mins/300texts
    unlimted landline
    unlimited internet
    @ £20
    N85: £145.50

    - Over the contact this would work at about £28 PM which doens't seem that great, thinking of moving to three with a mid priced contact, and go through their retenions at the end of end contact as they always seem despirte to give you a good deal.

think its like 600 minutes and unlimited txts?! (dolphin 35 package)
    500mb "unlimited data usage"
    £27.50 a month

Thats not a great deal, if you work it out it comes to about the same price per month as what I've been offered over the 18 months! Paying for phone works out for me @ around £28 PCM

Well they would have price matched the current T-Mobile sim only deals which equates to 350 minutes, unlimited texts for £15 a month, but then I wouldn't get a shiny new handset. I am more than happy with my current phone however, so the new handset (C905) would be put straight on ebay where the total value should cover a big chunk of my new contract ;)

OH's contract runs out in the middle of June.

He's just been offered a Sony Ericsson C902 (which I'm gonna have and am pleased with)
    300 minutes
    Unlimited Texts
    250mg data

He can also keep his magic numbers which he has 5 of.

    18 months
    £9.79 a month.

Really pleased with that as he was just going to switch to pay as you go!

Fair play. That's always a little risky (and do remember that the handset will be branded, which generally knocks the price down a bit), but in this scenario there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to get most of the tariff price.

    I have been a pay as you go customer for five years and thought I would chance my luck and try to get a reduction on my first contract. I managed to get;

    -Samsung Tocco Ultra
    -600 mins
    -unlimited text

for £24.47 a month, loyalty reduction of £10 a month and free phone. Equivelent deal on orange.co.uk was £29.60ish a month and phone cost of £97.50 so I thought I did pretty well considering i was PAYG and not pay monthly.

You have done well there. It's actually something that Vodafone (last I checked) were offering close to for new customers anyway, but it is a decent reduction for Orange.

OK, I know nothing about mobile phones at ALL! The one i have now is a Nokia something or other ;)

I am on an 18 month contract that runs out on 23rd May - This is my contract now:
    500 mins
    Unlimited Texts
    £35 a month

    So I have been offered:
    400 mins
    Unlimited texts
    18 month contract
    Samsung Soul U900
    £15 a month

Is it a good phone does anyone know? I just want one thats pretty easy to use and reliable I guess....

Does the deal sound ok or should I push for more? :D

The price is solid, but the U900 wasn't particularly well received. A friend of mine uses the U900 and hates it with a passion. Personally I'm still using the G600 (phone before it) and think it's a great phone. Try for that instead. It shouldn't be a problem substituting it.

If you'd prefer to stick with a Nokia you could probably get a decent enough version with that deal if you preferred.
