Got the following for my daughter who's contract ends on the 30th April.

Dolphin 35, 600 cross network anytime minutes, unlimited anytime texts, and a foc Samsung M8800 Pixon (pink) on a new 18 month contract for £25 per month.
  • For one reason or another different staff can pull different deals. I called three times in total. The first time the guy messed around with the system (whatever that means) for quite a while before finally coming up with a deal that was decent, but just short of what I wanted. The second time the guy I got through to was rather useless, and couldn't get close (he admitted to being new). The third time I got through to a girl who got me what I wanted quite quickly and easily. It shouldn't make a difference, but for some reason it does.

Thanks for explaining there, Jamie. I foolishly thought you meant phoning 150 in general (i.e general customer use, not to ask about retention deals lol).

A lot of people wanting the TouchHD, which I completely understand, however Touch Diamond2 and Pro2 due for release later in the year (no word if orange will stock but I would assume it will with its history with HTC) and will benefit from a free winmob 6.5 upgrade.

So my contract is up for renewal in a month and i've listed below what I think my options are based on that I'm waiting for the pro2

    -run existing contract (dolphin30 - 600xnet & unlimited txts £30pm)
-move to monthly sim only but lose my magic numbers
-change network and unlock my TytnII. o2 simplicity and t-mobile solo are great sim only deals and beat orange sim only hands down with both including free web (I'm talking about the £20 options here). Could do this month to month

Then thru Quidco o2 are running a £110 cashback deal on a 12month simplicity deal meaning I'd get 800xnet, 1600txts & unlimited browsing for £10.41pm (plus free voicemail)

    Oooh the options...!!!

    Any comments welcome. Thanks

What phone would you get with that deal. Sounds good getting all that for £10.41.

You wouldn't get any phone; it's an O2 simplicity deal (i.e. SIM only). Absolutely unbeatable value though. I've ended up sending my C905 back to Orange because the deal didn't real suit me (need to change tack) and the phone didn't blow me away enough to warrant keeping it, so I might hammer Orange with that O2 deal when I come to renew again next week. See what happens.

here is the deal i got today - i was on racoon 35; averaging around £40.00/mnth.

    400 Xnet mins
    300 texts
    80 MB browsing
    Unlimited landline

    Nokia 5800

    all for £14.68/mnth x 18mnth contract.

Did not have to haggle - just went to retentions dept.
  • I have just under 3months left on my contract so i'm not sure if they are holding off to see what happens. They only offered me deal that I posted the other day and I was not happy with that.

I have actually had two phones with them now for 36months. Just looked at past bills online and since April07 which is 24 months I have paid an average of £49.66/month which totals £1192.

Looking back at this has made me even more determined to either push them for a better deal or just say goodbye.

To be fair I got very little out of them until I had just less than a month left. When you're at that point they know that they won't be getting any more money from you and you could just leave, so they seem to fight harder. Wait it out a bit and see where you're up to in a couple of months. If you don't get a decent deal then, you still have plenty of time to switch.

Just a note: The only count your spend in the past 6 months. 24 month contract means nothing to them in terms of working out your spend.

It's not a 24month contract. Just saying that by looking at my online account that is what I spent on the bills.
