I can recommend the Nokia 5800 as I recently upgraded my Orange contract and got this handset! So far it simply rocks!

Internet browsing, sat nav etc are so easy and quick to use on this phone, plus you can hook into wifi as well saving those internet minutes

One word of caution is get a screen cover because I have noticed the pen can leave faint scratch marks, well at least it does on my screen cover!

Quite simply this phone is great!

For those of you debating over whether to get a Touch HD or a Nokia 5800, the Orange website this morning has the new Touch 3G listed under 'coming soon'.

The original Touch was a good phone and the reviews of the 3G have been good.
  • Hi,

    New to this place.

I'm due to upgrade on the 9th April, and have spent a bit of time reading this thread and also looking online, i'm obviously going to try calling retentions first but has anyone had any dealings with these so called 'Free PS3' sites as i may be interested for the right deal.

However, for more info i'm currently on:

    Raccoon 35
    £25 per month
Samsung u600 (worst phone i've ever had, and the screen cracked for the sake of it)

What i'd like is either an N95 8gb or an N85 at NO COST (may consider the HTC HD)
    Raccoon 35
    £20 per month
Might push for a freebie as they are doing some at the mo.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes as i'll probably call them in the morning, probably too late now.

    Cheers:D

I wonder how many will be thinking they had a good deal from Orange in 18months or 24 months time.

IMO sim only 1 month rolling contracts are the Best.

(to be specific the T-mobile solo plans.)
  • I've got a HTC Touch HD - I initially had a few problems with it (swapped twice) but they've finally got software bugs sorted out now and I love it - browsing is great - i've got the 250mb for £7.50 bundle and use the net all the time - emails are also pushed through and rarely go over the 250mb - anything that's left is also rolled over to the next month.
  • Hello all. I would like to push them for a HTC HD but would like to know from people who have them, what there like.

Been on 18month contract x2 with one for me and one for wife. Going to cancel hers but want to continue to use mine. Was both on £35 tariffs so what do you think I can get for this on retentions?

Can you have skype on it? Thats a big one for me.
Also after reading the previous post. Does the unlimited web usage carry over?

    Cheers

  • I have decided to move on after almost 7 years with Orange. They offered me a deal this time round which was worse than last year. They insisted on pushing an 18 month contract my way which I didn't want - I only do 12 month contracts as the market moves so quickly. To top it off the CSA kept interrupting me when I was talking and made out like she was doing me a favour. (In their defence I have found that CSA's vary between those who genuinely seem to want to help but they also employ those who feel like they are beyond reproach). I renewed early last year so they added on the new package to the existing date. However, they took away the total package after 12 months, although I was not due to renew until the 15th month.

I am currently running a data card off them through my company. I was also running two phones (one for the wife) with a combined average bill of around £100/mth. On top of that I also had a PAYG card which I was topping up by £10/15 mth. That's four different accounts through Orange.

I emailed the exec office over a week ago and said that due to the indifferent attitude of Orange and the fact that they had offered me a worse deal than last year I would start moving my business elsewhere - no reply.

I have since discovered that a lot depends on your previous 12 months with Orange. It is not just about your monthly spend - it is also based on the number of times you have called 150, whether you have claimed off their insurance (I hadn't), how many replacement phones you've had (none in my case) - it goes on.

Unlike my contract - which finishes in two weeks.

    I have my PAC code.
  • People keep mentioning about the number of times you have phoned 150. I think I have a few times, but not many. Why is this a significant factor?

For one reason or another different staff can pull different deals. I called three times in total. The first time the guy messed around with the system (whatever that means) for quite a while before finally coming up with a deal that was decent, but just short of what I wanted. The second time the guy I got through to was rather useless, and couldn't get close (he admitted to being new). The third time I got through to a girl who got me what I wanted quite quickly and easily. It shouldn't make a difference, but for some reason it does.

If you've been there a while you know how to 'play the system' to get the best for the customer, provided that. A: the agent you talk to gives a damn, B: hasn't just started (staff turnover is high as the frontline staff are treated like dirt). and C: management hasn't seen the loophole and closed it.
