Orange Retention Offers

Not likely. 200 minutes and Unlimited texts is £25 a month in store, and whilst you can get it for £20 online, having it for only £10 a month is a huge drop, and one that you've done well to secure. The 5800 is a top end phone, and one that I imagine you'll need to pay at least £15 a month to get, if not more. You won't find a deal like that anywhere else for £10 a month. Not even close. You can push them for more if you want, but don't expect anything ground breaking if they do oblige. It looks like you've probably reached your limit there.Do you think I would be offered the same sort of deal with a Nokia 5800 instead?
You're right that the E71 is not accessible enough for an 11 year old, so ask what other handsets they can do that would be more accessible. You should be able to get a range of options, and no doubt a number of them will be suitable for your sister. Don't expect any of them to be top of the range though. For £10 a month they definitely won't be."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0 -
My Brother has two phones with Orange and he wants to know how likely it is to get N96 for free.
They currently want £293.00 for the handset   . His contact is up on the 13th May but obviously needs to give 30 days notice, which he will do on the 13th April, if he doesn't get the phone he wants. What is the likely hood of getting it?
He has been with Orange for years, but i suppose they don't care about that.

Managed to get the same deal with the Nokia 5800.
From what you've said Jamie I think I have done well.
So all in all I'm happy.0 -

It sounds to me like our situations are more or less exactly the same in terms of our 'credit', so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get exactly the same deal as me.
Ah! That's pretty good. Going to do the whole "A friend has been quoted (your offer). I don't need the internet usage, or the two cards so how about the phone and £20 a month?".
Worth a bash. Will report back once I get off the phone.0 -
What contract is he on, how long has he been with them, and what does he spend per month (i.e. does he go over)? My Brother has two phones with Orange and he wants to know how likely it is to get N96 for free.

You've done very well indeed there. Well done. From what you've said Jamie I think I have done well.
Go for it. Though to be fair one card comes with it, and the internet usage and extra card probably cost them about £1. I only got those extras when I'd got to the point I wanted and then pushed some more. So don't count on the extra £5 off. Certainly you should be able to get the same deal as me though.Ah! i rang earlier, just into last month,
got offered 400 mins, unlimited texts and a nokia 5800 at £8.50 for just under £20 a month,
called back and got same deal but now with free nokia and off peak mobile internet.0 -
I wondered if you guys could answer a couple of questions
1. I've just been offered 400 mins, unlimited texts, 500mb internet by orange for £20/month. Does that seem fair? My monthly contract now is £43-£10 discount so £33/month, and they offered a nokia n85, sony w905i, sonyw595, or sony c902.
2. Which if any phone should I take, I don't like the 5800 and I like Nokia's, but the n85 keypad looks a bit snug - and I text lots!!!!

You're a very valuable customer to Orange with the amount that you're spending, but be wary about what they may offer. You're currently on Dolphin 40, but 400 minutes and unlimited texts is Dolphin 30, available for £25 a month online direct through Orange for new customers. So you want a better deal than that, because you're not a new customer. You're a valued one that they want to retain. You should be looking for £15 or £20 a month spend on the tariff depending on the phone that you want, or whether you want one at all. They may want to reduce the cost of your tariff now rather than give you a new one, but whichever way they spin it highlight that your priority is to cut down your monthly spend, and challenge them to give you a deal that you want. Don't be afraid to push them.WOWICANDOIT wrote: »Hi just forund this thread. What are you spending the extra money on? It might be an idea to look for ways to reduce that as well as reducing base tariff costs.
Was that your tariff beforehand? I would guess not, in which case you might want to go back to them and get them to look at the deal again. You're getting that current tariff for £5 less and with more internet usage than a new customer could direct with Orange online with a choice of decent but not top of the range phones, so you've not got a bad deal. I feel like there may be more in that for you, though, especially if you were on a higher tariff beforehand.1. I'm not a fan of the Nokia N series personally, though supposedly they've come on a lot since I last used them. Do you use your phone for music or taking pictures? The SE letters stand for Walkman and Cybershot respectively, showing their specialist areas, so that could influence your choice. Personally my mother has just dragged herself into the modern world of mobile phones by getting a C902, and I have a C905. I've been impressed by both phones so far, so the C902 would be my choice.2.
