Orange Retention Offers

  • Well - I had a query about my PAC code that I wanted to discuss. To cut a long story short I ended up talking with a very nice bloke who spent the best part of 25 minutes going through all the options he had available to try and retain my business.

I have to say that he has been the most helpful CSA I have dealt with at Orange - so much so that he also told me that he could not better the deal he was offering as I was at 97% loyalty points and to offer me any more on a 12m extension would close off the deal. He said that he would love to get me to renew today but advised it might be in my interest to hold off a few days as there are some new tariffs coming out.

He may have singlehandedly won me back - but it's early days still. And it still holds true that each customer is dealt with individually so what might have been offered to Joe Bloggs would probably not be offered to me due to different profiles.

So an N96 or Touch HD might still be on the cards. :j
  • I want the HTC Touch HD but just got offered this.

    18months
    Nokia 5800 (Free)
    400mins
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited Data (500mb)
    £24.47

To be honest I dont think this is a decent deal as for the last 36months I have been paying about £40/month and this is what they try and give me. Basically a £5 discount. Shocking.

Told the man that I would shop around and try again in a few days and he said that he could not guarantee the same deal. Shame!!!!!

Did you go through retentions to get that (i.e. did you select the option for leaving)? Because that's a terrible deal for retentions. It's essentially no better than you would get as a new customer online, where you would get the £5 discount anyway. Considering you have been with them 36 months paying £40 a month you need something a lot better than that.

The only sticking point is the HTC Touch HD. It is a top end phone that they seem to have very little wiggle room with. How do your priorities match up in terms of the phone, the plan, and the cost? Altering the plan (which is what they have done) takes up a lot more credit than simply lowering the cost of the plan that you're on now. They do tend to have a decent level of flexibility with the phones, but the Touch HD is something of an exception to this. Either way, you need to be pushing for a comparatively better deal than the one you have been offered there, because as a retention deal it's very poor.

Just because you pay alot of money every month it does not automaticly mean you get the best retention deals, Factors including outgoing calls/ingoing calls/texts/calls to CS/payment on time sometimes affect what you can get.

This is true, but at the same time someone who has been a customer for three years paying £40 a month should be able to secure a better deal than a new customer can through the website.

Orange allow upgrades in the last three months of your contract, but realistically you need to be ringing in the last month to secure maximum credit for the negotiations.

You can always ring them up and check but it is highly unlikely.

  • I have just hung up with a very helpful man at Orange and am totally pleased with my deal. Was in the last 30days of Dolphin35 contract I have signed up to the following:

    1200 mins
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited data
    Samsung Tocco
    £20 inc. VAT (18 months)

This was my first call to Orange 'if you are thinking of leaving...' extension. Hardly haggled at all and I perhaps might have gotten more but this more than suits me and its not like you wanna put them out of business! All I would say is, just make sure you're nice to the advisor. I work in sales and find there's nothing like a lovely person among a sea of rude ones to make you want to help them out!

Been some time since I've changed provider. How are the kids doing it nowadays?
I just phoned up, asking for my PAC code and said I wanted to leave to get a new phone & cheaper contract. This always got me a better deal on my past contracts, but the guy just said he'd process that and get it sent to my home address in a few days.
    I've done a bad, haven't I?

Thanks for that. I am flexible with the phone but would like a good web phone with the free data bundle that is cheap. If they can't come up with something better next time I phone them I might just give up.

If you're flexible with the phone then you should be able to secure a better deal than that. To give you an example, my retention deal after spending £35 a month for 18 monthswas the same tariff on £25 a month, 80MB internet usage, and a Sony Ericsson C905 or LG Renoir (both superb for web browsing) free. So £10 off the tariff and a top end phone. I ultimately used the 7 day discretion to cancel that (not overly impressed with the C905 as I'm not a Sony Ericsson person), but that's besides the point. You're paying more than me a month and have been with them twice as long, so should be able to get at least an equivalent deal.
