Orange Retention Offers

what may i ask is WM?
500mb is plenty for MOST people.
also could i ask why you are putting a downer on everyone's retentions deals?
start your own thread if you are not happy.
thanks
I'm not putting a downer on posts......just pointing out that Orange have changed and they are no longer giving GOOD retentions deals and indeed they are pulling the wool over consumers eyes. Better deals are availbale elsewhere....and this is what MONEYSAVINGEXPERT is all about, or so I thought.......... or are am I being censored here.
I was with them for 10 years PLUS, I should know.
500mb is no where near enough if you have a WM (windows mobile) touchphone with wifi and 3g or more internet access.
Orange will charge a fortune for data over that limit.
Thats why after 10 years plus they failed to retain my custom:o
There are posts from people who are signing up for 18 month contracts with "free" or subsidised phones that will be outdated in 6 months if not before. Always look at the minutes data and txts of the plan ...not the phone.0 -
I have been over 7 years with Orange and I also did not get a good deal.
After reading Medicinewoman's Post no 26 on this thread I have switched over to Vodafone. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1480601&page=2&highlight=cobra
Vodafone offered me a Samsung Steel with this 18 month tariff.
250 mins + 100 texts
£25 less 50% = £12.50 x 15 months = £187.50
£25 x 3 months = £75.00
This amounts to £262.50
£50 cashback on my account = -£50.00
Total = £212.50
£212.50 divided by 18 amount to £11.80 per month.
I know some people have problems with Vodafone but I thought that it was a good deal WITHOUT any Cashback to worry about.0 -
I've almost given up trying to explain mobile deals on MSE...cos some people just don't seem to want to listen.
VOIP on mobiles.
Windows Mobile operating systems.
Mobile as Laptop Modem.
....the key is to get a Windows mobile operating system type phone, effectively a PC in your pocket, and therfore much more upgradeable with endless addable features.
You can then concentrate on the Sim only deals with as many mins and txts and data you can get, to go into your phone with no tie in contracts.
My advice take it or leave it.
Having such a phone as the SPV M700 there is no deal with Orange worth staying for....retention deal or not.
Perhaps Orange made the mistake of retaining me last time (18 months ago) with this spv m700 phone.....because now I've seen the light.0 -
I can upgrade tomorrow as I enter the final 3 months of my deal. Currently have a Touch Diamond which is probably the most disappointing HTC/SPV I've had. No sign of the Touch Pro or anything else appearing on Orange anytime soon and the Touch HD doesn't appeal.
Handsets and costs likely mean I'm heading elsewhere.0 -
Well, I called and discussed a few things. Ended up with 600mins/unlimited texts/unlimited data for £15 a month and plumped for a Blackberry Bold since the Touch HD wasn't what I was wanting.
Pretty happy with that.0 -

Why do Orange keep misleadingly call 500mb "UNLIMITED"
I'd be interested to know why you found the HTC Touch disappointing .....I was thinking of that as an upgrade to my spv m700.0 -
They told me unlimited. We'll see. 500mb is probably enough but I have several email accounts so may well query it.
The disappointment was the texting I found. If Orange had the Touch Pro I'd have upgraded to that...I just found it fiddly to text without the keyboard. Otherwise its a good phone.0 -
In fairness to Orange who used to only give 8MB for an extra £8/month and 250MB of data on selected plans. On their website they only say 500MB and don't say unlimited although when I upgraded they did eventually call it Unlimited which is good because presumably if the limit increases within my 18 month period, it will go up to that limit also.
I've been using the internet mostly every day on my Symbian-based Nokia N82, which I would recommend over Windows Mobile any day, and I've only managed to tot up 25MB of data usage. It's been nearly a month. You do have to be quite a very heavy user to reach the limit.0 -

Don't know about symbian, but WM allows Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Power Point and a limitless supply of third party software. A mobile PC infact.
Thats why 500mb is not a lot.....for business use anyway.
Lots of consumers find the stylus input of data an inprovement for txting, its a matter of what you are used to.
I find the stylus Certainly better for writing business emails on a touch screen.
I'd certainly be interested in Oranges actual policy with regard to UNLIMITED, they are certainly duping a lot of people if unlimited means a 500mb fair use policy.....thats ok for non PDA type WM phones as using 500mb on such a phone would be hard work.
Start using Internet Explorer on a PDA and the data usage rises rapidly.0 -

I guess you prefer Windows Mobile because all your business tools are Windows based. I agree that these smartphone devices are very useful and use a lot of resources for internet.
You can view, edit and create all Microsoft Office documents on Symbian and sync with Outlook and use Adobe PDF and Flash. There is also a healthy and mature community of third-party applications, which is where most of this functionality is provided. But in reality both Windows Mobile and Symbian are closed proprietary systems.
On Blackberry the unlimited emails and internet is actually 250MB fair usage which is funny, considering that is directly targetted at business users and has less data.0
