I think the best advice is don't just accept what they say as truth. There is of course a limit to what they can do for you. Just keep asking them to note down on your account what you've been offered when you claw a bit more from them and take your time with phoning them back until you're happy.

I called Orange on Saturday and wanted to get the Nokia 5800. They basically said I had to pay £120 for it, which obviously I stated NO!

So I tried calling later that day to see if I could get them to move, what a difference. The woman I spoke to was very friendly and I got the following

    Nokia 5800 - cost £35
    600 mins & unlimited text - £18 per month
    Internet usage - Free

So waiting for the Nokia to arrive today and then I can have a play.

If I am not happy with the handset then I can return it within 7 working days which is cool as well!

Lifes too short to Haggle with Orange......thats my Opinion anyway.

Why sign up to another 18months or more when you can go to T-mobile and get a rolling 30 day contract sim only and get a much better deal.

    600mins
    Unlimited TXTs
    Unlimited Mobile Internet

    all for only £20/ month

Thats waht I'm doing it leaves me free and to keep an eye on the market for a killer deal to come along.

I'm sorry but all the deals Orange are currently offering on retentions are very poor indeed.....far worse than they used to be.

For a while T-mobile stopped free upgrades altogether for certain customers, Due to the current climate I assume, Maybe Orange is doing the same.

Hi all, just wanted to say hello and ask for some advice. I've been with Orange for close to 14 years now and my monthly bill is roughly £ 120 - £ 140, I'm due for an upgrade and wanted the Nokia N96. I'm on Racoon 35 btw. I went to an Orange shop and they quoted me £97 for the phone which I thought was way to much. I than called Orange on 150 and the friendly chap told me that that is the price I'd have to pay. I called back later and spoke to a very friendly woman who said that I could, after she went through the matrix, get the phone for £ 50. So I thought, after wading through tons of pages on the net and seeing that you could get the phone for free with way more minutes(1200) and texts(500) (which I'm not to pushed about); I'd call Orange again and ask for Orange Retention and spoke to this guy and explained about the offers I saw and that I'm not to interested in the minutes and texts but just wondered if I could get the phone for free, and he just replied no. So I asked him if he could give me my pac number and without him blinking he said yes. So I was just wondering if this is it or should I call back.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

My advice is forget it.....I was with orange for 10-12 years plus.

    Orange have gone Bananas.....official:rotfl:

Just take your Pac number and go to another provider as a new customer , you will be better off;)
  • I and quite a few others seem to be pleased with what Orange are offering on retentions.

Just trying to put a balanced view - T mobile are useless for me (no signal in lots of areas I go to).

I just need talk time and Orange gave
    600 xnet mins
    Unltd landline calls
100 texts (don't really need more than 20)
    30 day SIM only.
    £9.79pcm

I got that on trying to get a PAC when the first PAC was just about to run out. Had previously rang retentions who couldn't offer a deal worth staying for - so if you don't get what you want first time try again.

The signal issue was why I was with Orange for 12 years as where I worked Orange was one of only signals....downside was where I lived orange signal was Rubbish. Now I've gone T-mobile its good in both places.

Thats a good deal you had Mularky, and if Orange had offered me that I might have considered staying....they didn't...I tried...so I've left.

Ps Don't say I didn't try hard enough...I've been with Orange for years and have played this retentions game repeatedly...I just can't be bothered anymore its a Farce.

The t-mobile is 600mins unlimited txts and unlimited mobile internet 1gb fair use.........all for £20 30 day rolling contract.

That data plan would cost a fortune on Orange...thats why they are so uncompetitive.
