Orange Retention Offers
Comments
-
I've been with Orange for around 10 years now (although my father even had one of those Rabbit phones, which later went on to become Orange!), with an average monthly bill of around around £50 in the last 6 months. My contract doesn't run out till June, but due an upgrade in March.
I've heard that you don't get the best deals until the end of the contract or after its ended. But I'm seriously thinking of buying out my contract, which would only be about 65 quid, and getting an iPhone. I wouldn't mind an HTC Touch HD, but do you think it's likely Orange will offer me a good deal? Will I get through to retentions if I say I would like to buy out my contract?
I'm currently paying £25 for 500 x-network minutes (texts and any data usage is additional). I want to pay about the same or less, to add on unlimited txts and data, Orange Care, plus an HTC Touch HD. Is this going to be likely?0 -
Phoned up today expecting to have to do some haggleing for upgrade and heres how it went:
Spoke to first person, very nice lady.I have been on racoon 45 for last 12 months and fancied the HTC Touch HD,she very quickly with no preasure from me offered:
Phone for free
1200 x mins
500 texts
500mb data
+add on...........choice unlimated landlines
All the above for £36 a month.
Just before agreeing the deal I remembered on my last upgrade I asked for a bluetooth headset and was offered a mini parrot(I have 2 contracts with orange) so asked if I could also have this. She couldnt do it but put me through to somone else who could.
This is where it got a bit complicated. He was happy to match deal I had just been offered but wanted £48.50 for phone, parrot thrown in tarrif cost £34.26 and he would credit my account with £50.I hummed and hard for a while asking could he not just provide phone for free(a few silent moments on my half) and eventualy he came back with the following offer:
1200 x mins
500 texts
500 gb data
unlim landlines
Free Mini Parrot car kit
HTC TOUCH HD.......£48.50,but £50 credited to my next bill(so made £1.50??)
And the tarrif is £29.36 on 18 month contract
All in all I was well pleased with the outcome, and didnt really have to push for anything it was all offered to me without any hassles(other than the Parrot but asking for that actually got me a better deal IMO) :beer:Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
What are the general tariffs people are on in order to get a good deal?
I am on a Dolphin 25 and after a Nokia 5800 when I call them this Saturday! What do you think my chances are?
Thanks0 -

Well if you think about it that's like a Dolphin 30 plan but with the additional £7 added on for insurance and £5 for data. So it should cost you £37/month plus the phone.... it is quite a big ask. Just wait until you're a bit into the last three months of your contract and ask to talk to retentions and say you want an iPhone from 02 and don't really see anything comparable at Orange apart from the HTC Touch HD. That's what I'd do. They're probably quite likely to offer you something very near to what you want just not perhaps all of it.0 -

Any offer is based on your spend over the last 6 months.
If I were you I wouldn't call at the weekends, There are very few staff in and they have to clear call as fast as possible. So you may just get the first thing the computer shows and told that, that...
It better to call weekdays between 9 and 5. You'll get people who have time to tale to you and look through the system for better offers. . .0 -

Cool, thanks for the heads up! Still may change my hand and then if I get nothing can call back on Monday and explain I have thought about the offer etc and push it that way
My spend has been pretty good with them and I also take their 'Best Plan' deals when offered them which I think helps my case0 -

whats your average spend and how long have you been with Orange? Is your current Tarif comparible to your new one?0 -
Hi Marty,I had only been with orange for a year on this contract(wife uses this one) and had been on racoon 35 i think, was 850 mins 500 texts if I remember rightly, average probably £50 a month. One more tip I could give you was I called 150 and selected upgrade option at about 5.50 pm.........first thing she said was she only had 10 mins before finished so maybe thats why the deal was good also, just wanted to get homeBe ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

It could well have been! Thanks for the info.
Im just looking to see if they can better the deal I was offered a couple of days ago.
Ive been looking at this on their website-
Panther 45
18 months
£44.04- 1200 anytime minutes
- 500 texts
- 500MB data bundle
- unlimited landline calls
web discount
-£4.90
monthly cost
£39.14
On the basis that they offered me £130 credit towards the phone on my initial offer I would imagine it wouldnt be unreasonable to get that Tariff down to £34.61 per month or less.
Cost Of Phone - £48.50
Monthly Tariff - £39.14 x 18 = £704.52
Total cost for 18 months - £753.02
Now assuming I still have the discount of £130 on my account and can get matched against whats on offer via the web then it could work out as follows-
Total Cost of package - £753.02 (excluding discount)
Less Phone Cost of £48.50 - £704.52
Less remaining credit of £81.5 - £623.02
Divided by 18 months for the duration of the contract - £34.01
Thats a better offer than I had initially been given and which was costing £35. Hopefully they can take it even lower than that!0
