I rang Orange on Monday to request an upgrade (just finished 18 month contract on £30/month, rarely go over the £30 so not a heavy user) and they couldn't do anything for me to keep my business. I said I wanted either the LG Viewty or SE k850 for free but they offered me the LG for £199 or the SE for £249!
They put me thru to retentions who couldn't do any better than £100 for the LG one which really suprised me as an 18 month contract at £30 a month is worth £540 to them, much more than the phone cost. Maybe its because I currently get my broadband free with my phone contract and they don't want me to have that? They have sent me PAC code without putting up any fight at all.
Don't know if they will be calling me again but it may be too late as I am planning on going to T-mobile who can give me a similar plan for £20 a month (albeit I have to pay £100 for the phone, but saving a tenner each month on my bill pays for that in under a year).
A bit disappointed really as I have never had any issues with Orange so didn't really want to leave. Still, the people I spoke to were polite and friendly so I'm not leaving with a bad taste in my mouth or anything...
To update, I phoned on Monday to say that I was planning on going to T-mobile the next day and wanted to check if they could do any better before I did. They basically matched the T-mobile deal:-
Phone is still £100
Contract is £20 a month for 400 mins and 100 texts.
Phone arrived today.
I may have been able to do better if I'd held out but this is £10 a month cheaper than I had before, for extra minutes, so I'm happy with that.
I guess my advice would be don't be afraid to get your PAC code once your contract is up - it gives you much more bargaining power and it doesn't mean you have to leave them as it just disappears if you don't use it within 30 days (for Orange anyway).0 -
Hi, In october 2006 I was offered 2500 xnet mins and unlimited texts along with two magic numbers for £30 a month inclusive of vat. However now that my 18 months are nearly up I am being told that the 2000 xnet mins were a loyalty bonus and that i will be going back to just 500 xnet mins, how they can take away 2000 xnet mins for being more loyal than i was 18 months is beyond me.
So far i have had no luck, but as my contract expires in march I will try yet again, i will be posting if i get anything from them. I was hoping to get some free mms or additional minutes!!0 -
...and even before going through to retentions I was offered 225 x-network minutes and 100 texts for £15 a month which is the amount I'm looking to spend at the mo. The very nice lady on the phone mentioned that I could get a better deal when my contract expires next month which is what I'm going to do.
Currently on Canary 30, with extra texts, Nokia n80 and 4mb for £35 on an 18 moth contract.
If I can get similar or better minutes and get a free phone for £15 a month, I'll be saving £240 a year and maybe even more if I sell the handset.

Am on everyday 50 which ends feb 4th, having been on a 18month contract. Am really thinking that Orange are just gonna let me leave as this tariff makes them no profit. :-(0

Lied constantly. I had no service for 3 days and they told me to phone AND COMPLAIN TO sky AS THEY HAD A "TAG ON THE LINE" AND HAD ATTEMPTED TO TO TAKE OVER THE LINE ILLEGALLY. cOMPLETE BULLS*T as it turned out once I spoke to Sky, got a different customer advisor who again deferred to technicial who this time said it was Easynet illegally tagging my line. This was a complete lie again, SPOKE TO VERY NICE iRISH CHAP AT eSYNET WHO GAVE ME THE bt NUMBER TO CHECK FOR TAG ON LINE. bt STATETEDTHERE WAS NO TAG ON LINE. Anyway went on like this for 90 mins, also spoke to a supervisor as my head was about to explode with the sheer unadulteraded incompetence and dishonesty of this bunch of muppets, and gave up and turned off all kit until boxing day, when hey presto I have a connection. Sorry, but imcompetence is one thing, lying and blaming other companies and insisting it is the customer's responsibility to contact companies which have done nothing wrong is completely unacceptable. Now going to request tag and move elsewhere, and will undoubtably be cheaper. What a complete bunch of liars. I hope Sky and Easynet complain about their tactics. I would rather have no internet than pay Orange another penny.0
