If this looks like a broken layout could you send a screenshot to ForumTeam@MoneySavingExpert.com with details of your device, operating system or browser.
We can then check to see if we can reproduce the issues you're having.
Thanks,
Ben
It was more of a rhetorical question combined with facetiousness, I know the reason is because of the utterly pointless sidebar on the left of the page combined with the site being optimised for narrow screen resolutions.
The combined result of this is when viewing a forum thread, roughly the 15% of the page closest to the left of the screen is empty space, next 15% sidebar, next 50% is the useful part (ie the thread), last 20% is more blank space. Scroll down past the first few posts and you've lost the sidebar resulting in the 50% blank space I mentioned in my earlier post..

Jenni_D, we can assure you we wouldn't waste our users' time like that. It's a genuine invitation for constructive feedback. We can tell you now, we won't be able to follow through on every single suggestion because it's not an unlimited pot of gold.Jenni_D said:
That's a complete and utter waste of time ... I've read previous posts where people posted about the change to the new forum (from the old "green" board you used to have) and almost all suggestions were completely ignored. I don't expect this feedback process will be any different. 🙄MSE_Laura said:

Like anything new, it will take time to get used to. It's very colourful and bright, lots of red.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.3

Am I being blind, can't find the Referral section?
Even if I go by my last posts, search for threads etc...?2 -
If you could let us know what screen resolution you are viewing the Forum on, we can certainly look into how we might improve this. Obviously we have to design for all manner of devices from smartphone screens to large desktops and even TVs. We optimise for the screen sizes that are most popular or we'd spend all our time designing and re-designing and never be able to introduce any changes.NaughtiusMaximus said:It was more of a rhetorical question combined with facetiousness, I know the reason is because of the utterly pointless sidebar on the left of the page combined with the site being optimised for narrow screen resolutions.

The left-hand is the main Forum navigation - without it, it would be quite difficult to get anywhere else on the Forum, but feel free to put any more feedback or suggestions through the form as we'll be looking at everything that is sent through that.

As a mobile user, I don't like the new format, trying to navigate the threads is not as easy as the previous interation. I don't think it flows as well.Jenni_D said:It's not a broken layout ... just a very poorly-designed layout that's geared towards mobile users rather than desktop users. (i.e. same as the previous "skin" - this new design is simply lipstick on a pig). Desktop users have a landscape orientation whereas the forum design is more-suited to a portrait orientation.
I would suggest that the topic headings in the boxes were hyperlinks to the topics for efficiency, also the font seems far too small.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

If you really didn't want to waste users time, you could have have setup a beta somewhere that users could have looked at and given feedback on before you set it live.

There was time, when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, when I could see which board I was on. But that has been "improved" out of existence. I just wish I knew where I was on this forum.
Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

We've taken the decision to close some of the boards. There's more info in our announcement here.
Best wishes,
