Some may consider it impolite. You may even get a badge for it, is there an "opinionated" badge. The existence of these badges isn't really the focus of my question rather the poorly placed display of them in everones profile which needs to be scrolled passed repeatedly whenever forum users need to return to threads they've posted on.

Its getting late, will the thread be closed without an answer?

Wow thats great. Although its confusing that the highest rated, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/profile/DavidHolland3103 has less badges than me. It also doesn't really explain how to get these badges. If its ok with you I'd prefer to wait for mse to explain both how to get these badges and more importantly why they are where they are in everyones profile. It's OK with me but it may help to know more about it and it doesn't seem that you are going to get the reply you want, after all, you have been asking the same thing for a year or more.
I don't know how much control MSE have over where these badges are bearing in mind that they are part of Vanilla's forum. I am using a laptop and where they are in the profile is in no way obtrusive to me and they are not of any excessive size for me.
I do, however agree that they are rather pointless. meaningless and unnecessary and I certainly would not miss them if they disappeared.

Regarding the points, these are not just awarded for getting badges. I too have 19 badges, the same as you and more than the highest rated in the list but nowhere near the points total.
