Please read - new Forum homepage and rules are live

The functionality is doing my head in with the new style of board. TBH it was probably like this for a while. Anyway...

1) On the Latest Posts function from, let’s say, the Savings & Investments board, there’s loads of text but the only direct link to the thread posts is the title. This takes me to the first post and I have to work through pages 1, 2,... etc. I can’t click on ‘12 Replies’ and go straight to the point I last visited the thread, or the end of the thread, or the first response to the OP. I can’t click on Views and see who the 137 members were who posted (so why do I want to see this number?!). I can’t click on the time of the latest post and go straight to that post. If I click on the Username of the person who made this latest post it doesn’t take me to their contribution in its position on the thread, it takes me to their User Profile. Even then, there’s no immediate place to see their recent contributions, just lots of blank space. All this is so frustrating! 2) In My Profile, from the new icon at bottom right of the screen (on iPad) there’s far too much space taken up in the higher-value page real estate higher up the page while there’s no visible summary of my activity and posts until I start clicking on the subs, Discussions, Replies, Activity etc. And the Activity selection doesn’t do anything that I can see.

so I’m not a fan of the rebuilt Forum pages. I’ve submitted the feedback form.

Hi everyone,

We’ve received more feedback today echoing yesterday’s feedback on the size of the fonts, the space on the left and also the layout across different devices. Just to reiterate from yesterday, we’re already taking steps to get these key things sorted.

One extra thing that has cropped up today is the new categories and where boards live. We’ll have another look at these next week.

So for now, we’re going to pause this thread, but in the meantime you can still use the feedback form. As always, thanks for your feedback.

Can you change two small things please?

When looking at a new board some show some thing like '1.5knew' when it means '1.5k new' .

Also, there isn't a word 'favourited'  - 'loved', 'liked', 'saved to favourites' but not 'favourited'.  Please.

And I agree with most of the comments about grey space etc.

@MSE_Laura_F I've just spotted what might be a forum bug ... when I look at anyone's profile (including my own) I can see as far as the Activity heading and then nothing more. And if I go to edit my profile the only options I have available are to change my email address and turn on/off skimlinks.

PS - I had previously turned OFF skimlinks. Somehow they'd been turned back ON - not sure if the forum "upgrade" did this.

Edit: I've completed the feedback form again to report the above.

I can’t see how to search just one forum board. ‘Search the forum’ is absolutely pointless as it searches all boards!

No improvement on the ruined search facility that the last update caused.  Before both updates we used to be able to search one board and get results with the most recent first.  Now you get rubbish from 2014 interspersed with slightly more recent results but this is worse than useless if you know a post exists but MSE’s broken search function has made finding it like a needle in a haystack. 

Please restore the ‘Search THIS forum’ facility that existed before both updates.

Well, I think there are 'improvements' to the forum homepage, but personally, I don't use that as I have all the forums I use bookmarked in my browser.

We have a lot of wasted space on the left which we are told they are looking into rectifying.

We are told that they have trialled it before going live, but not sure who with.

As an aside, very many years ago, I was invited by 'Farming on Line' to join their advisory panel to offer suggestions as to the way forward. There were about a dozen of us. When the 'new look' was launched, none of our suggestions had been implemented! Deja Vu perhaps?
