A news report this morning projected that by November, prices will have risen 50% since the cost of living crisis began. A quick consult with Google indicates that was late 2021, so the 50% is over 5 years. Hence I would expect a minimum spend of at least ยฃ40 by that point.

Minimum spend at Tesco ยฃ50 (increased from ยฃ40 4 or 5 years ago) - Iโm assuming thatโs national. When these increases come through that will almost certainly go up to ยฃ60. Weโre very much dependent on deliveries for various reasons, and when Aldi ditched their Click and Collect we pretty much ditched Aldi, apart from occasional visits targeting certain items theyโre notably cheaper for. Theyโre very good on continental cheeses and hams, for example.
ยฃ83.88 for a full 7 day delivery pass with Tesco is pretty good value, but the quality of the food certainly doesnโt match Aldi, by and large.

We benefited from the old Coupon Plus and would regularly spend just over ยฃ250 each month to get the 10% off an up to ยฃ200 shop at the beginning of the next month. It was good while it lasted. I doubt whether the new Lidl loyalty offering will give us a similar saving although I won`t miss the ยฃ200 shop that had to be done and dusted in under the 90 minutes car park time allowance! I suspect we will shop less at Lidl and go to Aldi instead.

The new system which comes in tomorrow is we collect points,1 point for ยฃ1 spend, then exchange points for rewards or money off coupons.....so it all depends what the rewards and coupons are and if they're customised to the individual or the branch,we shall see in the next few days I guess

We shall see - can it be more stingy than Sainsburys?
I shop at Lidl reasonably often as I can incorporate it with a long seaside walk, now I will be looking to make purchases that are as exact to a whole pound as possible, just to see what comes of it.

I often use to get a brownie with my ยฃ10 spend, now I need to spend ยฃ90, Even a 39p doughnut needs a ยฃ40 spend.
Let's Be Careful Out There2 -
A quick look at the rewards and there's quite a few items I buy regularly so that's good, the free sweet bakery item for ยฃ10 spend I can do without, I'd rather be able to use the points on purchases I want than just get free stuff I don't because I've reached ยฃ50 or ยฃ100 or whatever.

Inspect your Lidl app, peopleโฆ.its not looking like amazing value BUT the 100 welcome points I received will secure a doughnut and almond croissant. Or I could spend another ยฃ15 and select a bag of frozen peas, which is arguably better for me.
I am really hoping the ?quarterly Spin to Win promotions have not been pulled.
ETA: it is going to take months to spend another ยฃ900 - I very much doubt I will accrue enough points before Christmas to get a ยฃ10 MOC:No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Probably just me, but I donโt like all this freebie/offer/app stuff thatโs going on, mainly with Lidl. Lidl and Aldi were both based very firmly on genuine everyday low prices for good quality food, and they achieved that by cutting out all the fripperies. No coupons, no BOGOFs, no special offers, no branded goods - just everyday low prices.
Thatโs changed, particularly at Lidl (which I now rarely bother with), and itโs inevitably being reflected in higher prices. Or rather, a reduced differential between Lidl prices and big supermarket prices. More brands means less shelf space for the much better value own label too.
