Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Generally I agree with you but with one exception so far. Got some croissants the other day for our breakfast and also picked up a chocolate croissant and as a special treat one of their limited offer pistachio brioche. The brioche (which actually looked like a croissant) smelled great. Popped it into the oven to warm with the others and still smelt great. But oh dear!! The pistachio filling looked quite vile in a pale green oozy way and the brioche pastry was just not right. So we won't mind when they stop being available and something nice takes its place.

Only to the extent that things like Chillis, Avocados, Cucumbers and Tomatoes are included in the veg offer even though they are technically fruit.

Lidl have just announced the end of Coupon Plus this weekend.
To be replaced by something as yet unannounced.

@Cornucopia - you beat me to it!
I had to open the app to check what Coupon Plus actually is - it is the treat you get at the end of a target spend. Hence I topped the £50 mark this evening and will be getting a free vegetable, but because it ends on 4th May have 4 days to use it rather than the expected 7.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.3 -
Hopefully the new scheme will be good, but it's a shame as Lidl's loyalty offering was especially good for lower spenders. Most of the other supermarket schemes take a long while to accumulate benefits if you don't spend much.

I hope the changes bring in a new algorithm,as an example if I buy gravy powder I'm unlikely to want any more for a while so giving me a discount on the next purchase to be used within 7 days is pointless. They have all the data of what I buy and how often going back years so use it better 🙂.....now if it were a free bar of chocolate every week I'd be very happy lol

For our usage the new scheme is a big step back. Apparently they're introducing the same system we've already seen this winter in France when in Feb they changed from the old to the new scheme. There 1 Euro gave you 1 point… with enough points collected you could exchange them for products. But the "exchange rate" is absolutely dismal. In France we received 50 points as a welcome bonus and then shopped for 18 Euro, so we had 68 points… 65 of which we could exchange for a sweet bakery treat. Here it seems to be £1 = 1 point, so before £10 gave you a sweet treat, now you need £65.
It is a joke and I have anyway stopped using them a while ago as their fresh produce is really not that fresh and there have been other problems. Hubby sometimes still buys stuff though mostly middle of Lidl.

@sarahTT oh that’s a shame regarding the new system. I tend to spend £120 or less per month at Lidl so this will definitely affect my rewards payoffs then.

A slightly disheartened observation, the Aldi lily bunches used to be 4 stems flowers 2 of greenery and are now 3 flowers 3 greenery. Cost of living, oil prices etc but noticeably less bloom for your buck.
