Thought I'd try this in Lidl.

My late partner at one time did food packaging photography, so I know it doesn't usually resemble what's inside but this must be one of the worst examples I've seen.

Besides bearing no resemblance at all to the photo, it also tasted awful.

I'm surprised by this assessment as I'd heard that Lidl's frozen spanakopita was a good buy.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that the actual strawberries never match up to the wonderful/gorgeous/divine strawberries in the pictures. 😹

I buy them as they are supposed to be very healthy. I had some the other day that were marked “sweet and juicy”. They were neither 😿

Maybe I'm just lucky with my Lidl. The strawberries have been very good so far! Massive too. I was prepping some for afters and had to cut the blinking things into 8ths!

Had a punnet of strawberries from Coop - on Saturday - they were superb - best I've had for a long time - sweet, plump and juicy - and cheap (£2)

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

XXL week at Lidl from tomorrow. Haagen Daz fans may be intersted in the following:

Popped to the local Lidl today to use some vouchers. I had the choice of £5 off at least £60 purchase or 10% off. Given I rarely exceed/approach £60 I went with the 10% off as the better deal. In the end I spent £53ish but that included a bottle of wine that was excluded from either discount.

None of which is relevant other than to say that the reason I spent so much was on plants. I had assumed that there would have been a big delivery today or yesterday but if there was there must have been a plague of locusts as well as there were very few plants left. I did manage to nab 4 x 6 geraniums/pelargoniums at £4.99 each. (so £4.49 in fact). More importantly I was delighted to find they had their Thunbergia in stock - 3 different colours - yellow, pale orange and an almost variegated dark orange. If you aren't familiar with these they are a climber that does nicely in a pot or hanging basket and once established do a great job of wandering about showing off their flowers from about May to November (sunny south coast).

I love these and am so pleased to have spotted them today. edited to add essentially £2.69 each, example below. Good for those hot dry places.
