Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

I have the 2x points on fruit and veg too
I have also had a free bakery item coupon. Spent that today on a loaf for tea, and also got mushrooms free with my initial points. That means I'm off to Aldi for my weekly shop on Monday. There are some things I prefer there anyway. And I will probably buy stuff from Tesco when the prices are matched - clubcard is now on par with Lidl re points, and I can double them up to spend with partners.
The ' we listened to you ' line is the thing turning me away really. I think it's dishonest. If they had said ' sorry folks we can't afford to keep it going, we have to change it' I would be less put off.
( Ditto M and S with their much worse Sparks scheme where they are trying to pretend it's better when it's much worse!)

@2childmum2 - I think there is such a thing as selectve listening. Lidl may have been told their 15% off coupons were no big deal and acted on that specific feedback.
A sure sign that summer is back is the return of Lidl's lovely buttery Victora sponge - at the new price of £2.99 😮. I will wait until I see it with a 50% off sticker before buying.

We get the small cakes from both Lidl and Tesco (when discounted) and I think they are pretty much identical. Probably made to the same recipe and in the same factory. I was using this theory when I was at Sainsburys this week and saw their cakes at £1.95ish. They had a lime drizzle which I thought would be a nice change. Well it's nice and a change but I prefer the lemon drizzle from either of the other 2 stores.

Coupons at Lidl refreshed today with a message saying I have a "mystery box" voucher for a free item, that also indicated this would continue every week. My voucher this week is for a vegetable, I am all potato'd out (boiled spuds are now a staple for me rather than bread) and ended up getting another sack yesterday as my next choice - cauliflower - were puny in size compared to the snowy white whoppers we have seen over the winter.
In order to maximise value: what is the most costly vegetable to be found on the aisles at Lidl? I'd much rather buy a staple that can feed me for a while rather than a treat (such as speciality tomatoes).

I tend to go for something like avocados or asparagus if I know it's a freebie. And when I actually purchase it I do it as a separate transaction so I can easily see that it is free. Occasionally the signs are missing or swapped about and I've picked up something I thought was free or discounted only to discover it's a slightly different item (i.e. the 150g is free not the 175g)

Anyone tempted to get the Tresemme shampoo dupe (Cien) from Lild should be wary. I tried to use some yesterday and it is a thin detergent not fit to wash hair. If there is any consolation it is that I purchased it through a spending reward - scrutinising the shelves, it was the expensive toiletry included in the offer!

I've just noticed that Aldi sell Jersey milk. Never spotted that before. Is it a new item?

Its not new, but it was pulled off the shelf when seasonal goodies appear (at the tail end of august!).
I'm glad to hear its back, because it is delicious. Esp when adorned with a red-and-white sticker 😁

Has anyone seen the patio roses at Lidl this year?

I converted my free Lidl points into freebies this morning: Bread and a jam doughnut. My Lidl % off coupon selection has halved to around 5-6 with only one usually shopped for item being available with discount this week. The other 5 discount coupons are useless to me. Since the change, I hardly ever go to the Lidl here now as their veggie boxes are half the size they used to be and the selection of itmes in them aren't as good as it used to be, so other than popping in for my freebies and using my % off coupon tomorrow when it's cooler, I won't be shopping at Lidl again for some time. For me, there are better offers and discounts available elsewhere.
