I've always liked the fact that the offers at Aldi were the Super 6 on fresh, healthy food compared with other SMs that had mainly offers on 'junk'. Added to the recent more frequent 30‰ YS reductions, it's still my first choice for shopping.

IME, Lidl & Aldi often have the same or similar products for the same quantity and price. I'm sure there might be a few things that are noticeably cheaper at one or the other, but I struggle to identify what those might be.

If the changes to the Lidl loyalty scheme help maintain that status quo then I'm happy with that. At the moment, it's looking like I will lose a bakery item and a free vegetable… and gain two bakery items.

My choice is dictated by location. There are 2 Lidls within a short drive of our home. Aldi is much farther away and significantly worse for parking.

And while their products are much the same I always felt that Aldi was better for red wine and Lidl for white - with the exception of when Aldi gets in a nice VQA Ontario white wine - it's cheaper to buy it here than in Canada even if you go directly to the vineyard.

And Lidl has the bakeries while Aldi do not. At least not that I've ever seen.

One of the two Aldis here has a bakery. It's not as broad a selection as a typical Lidl bakery, although it is slightly cheaper.

@Cornucopia - did you not have a voucher for free veg in your Lidl app this week?

@Brie - bakeries are a thing in Aldi, but having never had a free voucher I haven't troubled my local one.

I have spent just over £10 this week and have acquired 14 points - am unsure how exactly this is calculated? Plus the 15% coupons for certain goods are back in the app.

The points are rounded up I believe ,not sure how that will work in practice

No, I had the veg voucher last week.

I assumed the points would be logical. I spent £8.31 today and got 9 points, which makes sense if they are rounded up to the next pound.

BTW the digital receipts have moved and are now under Account | Receipts.

The receipts have been there a while, maybe your app has only just updated

It's the first time I've looked for a receipt for a while.

Actually I've just realised - my extra points are down to the 2x points on fruit. Not sure if it is a targeted promotion or has been sent to all customers with the app.
