They will soo either lower the coin value for products or start introducing a lot more bonus coin offers once they realise the amount of customers they lose over this change. It's a bit ridiculous to go from only having to spend £250 a month for 10% off to now having to spend £500 for £5, which would not be 10% of most peoples weekly shop even anyway. It's all very well them saying there will be doucle points on things but in reality how many more points wll you earn from double points on fruit? A few a week? It's hardly going to bump it up that much is it. Maybe they will do the scratchcards to have the chance of winning extra coins.

Something to note though is, maybe it's just me, but my new coupons/offers loaded today and there seems to be more of them and on things I actually buy, slightly more generous too.

Just checked mine, there's about the same number as usual, and most of them are for things I rarely, if ever, buy. Though there is one for a free in-store bakery item.

Nope. Since I've stopped using them we rarely get to the £50 level but if we do (or did 😒) I always asked hubby to bring back the 7.5kg potatoes. For this we now have to spend... £399. Never going to happen.

Plus it really riles me how Lidl try to sell this as a you-asked-we-listened exercise. I had given up on them anyway but if I'd still be using them I'd probably say bye-bye now.

How I miss those simple days of everyday low prices without gimmicks that Aldi and Lidl used both to offer. Just the weekly special offers, and that was pretty much it. Lidl are presumably assuming that they can poach Aldi’s customers with their approach - not for us it won’t! I hate the way they’ve overcomplicated it, and I’ve pretty much ditched it altogether because all those offers are being paid for by lousy customer service!

I don't think we need to be too hasty here, it is but early days. What helps is being able to pool the intel together here so if there are patterns emerging we'll pick up on them early. Think of it as a Bletchley code just dying to be cracked.

Free vegetable voucher for me as well, valid for a week.

Fair enough, but I started shopping at Aldi and Lidl getting on for 30 years ago, and it was the simplicity that appealed. It still is. All these offers have a cost, and I'm much more interested in low prices and high quality than the odd free cake or vegetable. Lidl is being outflanked on price by Aldi, and the customer service is poorer. If anything these trivial offers have actually driven me away from Lidl for those reasons. I'm doubtless in the minority though!
