Best Lidl bakery pastries? Probably the Pecan & Maple Plait and the Chocolate Twist.

These remind me of bread and butter pudding, which I hate. (Its the wobbly egg custard element I dislike).

It may be that bread & butter pudding is adored by those who are of a certain vintage & 'have the teeth' for it?

Or that you may need to be in the right place to appreciate a Wet Nelly?

Government canteens always used to serve bread and butter pudding with custard. Seemed bizarre at first, but I’ve eaten it like that ever since - the only way. And nothing wobbles!

Ahhhh……bread pudding! Even nicer than B&B pudding.

I always get confused about the 2 types of pudding. I grew up with "bread pudding" which to me is slices of bread with milk and egg etc pour over top and baked. Served hot with ice cream and maple syrup. Not sure I've tried the other type more than once or twice in the 30+ years I've lived here.

You must! Bread pudding is oh-so delish, fruity and spicy alternative to fruit cake that can sit in a tim as a snack, and super-easy to make at home. Not that I have made it since I stopped buying bread!!
