Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

Orange wine was very trendy last year. Does it actually taste of orange or is it orange in the same way that rose tastes of roses? 😁

It does taste of orange, but not overpowering. It's not as sweet as Rose. I'm not keen on sweet wines, preferring medium dry - Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Viognier etc.

Sound interesting but a quick look on Trolley tells me they are not inexpensive and Aldi has the cheapest - I couldn't waste nearly £8 on a bottle and then dispose of it if I didn't like the first few sips. I will be on the look out for special offers though.

Tried out one of the "festive collection" candles I got from Lidl. Reduced to £2. (not sure what the original price was but £2 seemed dirt cheap to me). I got Festive Pine which is currently burning off the cooked fish smell from breakfast. It is a very light fragrance which suits me just fine. The other is cranberry and cinnamon or something so I expect it will be a bit more obvious.

I got a couple of those not tried yet but can't go far wrong for £2 unless vanilla don't like that

I actually find Aldi candles better value. Their Purewick range is on offer atm for £2.99 currently reduced to £2.29 for a bigger candle than the Lidl ones. I love the mango scented one.

Going back to the Lidl cherries discussed earlier .. I bought them as they were on offer. Tasteless.
I also bought green bananas a week ago - they are still green despite being in the fruit bowl with apples, mandarins, a lemon and a lime.

You should try Aldi's, they go from pale yellow with a hint of green to dark yellow going brown (well over ripe)...

I got some fairly green ones that are yellowing up very slowly. This would be fine as I like my bananas greenish but I also like the ones that go well into ripe for making my banana oatmeal muffins which I was hoping to do this weekend. I'm not sure one will turn in time - I've already got 2 in the freezer. And if the OH spots them he'll likely inhale any that are too yellow for me to eat but not beyond the yellow enough to be used for baking.

There were 4 packs left in my local this evening - Regina variety. Being out of season I didn't buy them.
I gave up buying bananas a while ago on account of their slow-to-ripen-beyond-Shrek-green quality. I have been enjoying this season's satsumas though.
