Good and Bad Buys at Lidl and Aldi stores (***Please don't expire***)

well our wonderful government is telling people to stock pile goods so who knows ? I would like to know what they aren’t telling us. 🤫

Interesting you say this…I had a chat with a staff member in my local Lidl the other day, in the mistaken belief that stock rotation might be improved. I was told that sometimes the pallets arrive with very short-dated stock! The only thing the store team can do is get them on display asap.

It makes perfect sense, and puts us in line with the many other countries that take resilience planning more seriously. Aside from war, the impact of a series of cyber attacks would probably close down the entire food distribution system within hours. And then there are the utility supplies. Total dependence on computer systems makes us very vulnerable when countries such as Russia and Iran are looking for retaliation.

It is very telling that those in cyber security will make their own homes as "dumb" as possible.

I had an interesting conversation the other evening with a friend who is in IT and is using AI a lot. To him it's like he has a very efficient assistant. But he does admit it's also a bit like having a horse to help you do your farming. The horse can't do it on its own because it doesn't know what to do until it's told. And it needs to be controlled so the "farmer" uses a harness to direct it and fences to ensure it doesn't go astray.

Has anyone seen the 'lazy' chopped garlic in Lidl or Aldi lately. It seems to have disappeared from local stores and I wondered if it's been discontinued or just a local thing. 🤔
