Had a mini, frozen cheesecake from Lidl yesterday, it takes 1 minute to heat in the microwave, but after heating on Saturday, put it in the fridge and it was delicious cold, tasted like a proper cheesecake, not too sweet, nice texture, only £1.99.

Noticed that it was cheaper today to buy a cucumber in M&S than in Aldi. M&S had them at 70p and £1 depending on the size and Aldi's were £1.19.

There are a few bits & pieces that are cheaper in places other than Lidl & Aldi, and not just main brand items.
One I came across the other week was chocolate coated rice cakes - these are £1.99 in both L & A. But they are £1.30-something in Asda.

I had a 15% off a cucumber Lidl voucher, and they were on offer this week -
99p, 79p,65p. I don't think I've paid that little for a cucumber in over a decade! No man is worth crawling on this earth.

At that price I am tempted to make my own Basque cheesecake in my Cleverchef, and put the Gu ramekins to good use!

Lidl has small bottles of truffle oil on offer from Thursday: https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/deluxe-truffle-infused-oil/p10045562?utm_source=offerdate&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=deluxe+truffle+oil&utm_campaign=GB_12_240326_EML_WKL_ONE-TradeDriving_LP2&sfmc_id=0036N00000jVqxsQAC&utm_id=1703122&utm_term=632d70c0a3f42aa23fab778ca432d5bb634dbef1fff9ccee7a85f54951a94181&nlemailid=236462&utm_content=https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/deluxe-truffle-infused-oil/p10045562?utm_source=offerdate%26utm_medium=newsletter%26utm_campaign=deluxe%2Btruffle%2Boil&mktc=

We've often had the Lidl Deluxe brand salted crisps in the little 6 x packs and enjoyed them. Couldn't get to Lidl this week before a road trip so bought the Aldi Specialty version instead. They are dreadful tasting quite stale. Avoid!!!

I was disappointed with how dirty the celery I bought from Aldi this week was. The mud factor was up there with leeks.

I was tempted by the strawberries on offer at Lidl yesterday: appealingly red and large fruits, 500g / £1.49. They also had much bigger crates of similarly fine looking strawberries (1kg I think) for £5.99.
They were disappointingly bland and not particularly sweet. provenance: Spain. I think I'll wait a couple of months for good Kentish strawberries to populate the chiller aisles.

Normally I’d avoid everything but British strawberries, because they’re the only ones with the right flavour and texture, but my wife picked some Spanish ones up in Aldi 10 days ago. I expected the worst, but they were superb. Up there with any British summer ones. Pot luck, I suppose.
Takes me back to the Pick Your Own we used to do in Kent back in the 1970s - masses of them, and incredibly cheap. Beware the tell-tale signs of strawberry juice running down your chin at the checkout!
