Husband went to Lidl with a list this morning, because it's Greek week. No Cretan cheese, stuffed vine leaves, fava spread, frozen octopus tentacles or meze. Could only find Kalamata olives. They didn't have any grass fed beef either.

I hadn't been to Lidl for ages, but popped into our nearest this morning as I was close by. It's about 3.5 miles away, not like the 5 minute walk to the new Aldi. The baskets were filthy, there did seem to be plenty of stock, no big gaps where things were missing, and I got what I needed. But at the checkouts, only 1 was open with a queue of around 10 people (the store has no self service tills). Definitely a world away from going round the local Aldi.

I appreciate they're not all like this, but I won't be rushing back there any time soon.

Instant coffee is reduced at Lidl

Their Gold in 200g jars is £2.35 and decaf 100g is £1.25

Long dates 2026/2027 so I've bought a few
It wasn't so long ago it was under £2. It is a nice product though (I have a hot mug of it in front of me right now) so I'll be stocking up too.

Once one person packs their trolley others tend to follow.
