  • For anyone who hasn't had a win on a Lidl scratchcard - I finally have, and am entirely underwhelmed by it:

Asda has the decency to stick actually credit in your cash pot, this is a disincentive if anything!

Looked at the Aldi website and there were various haggis products. Normally buy our gluten free haggis from a butcher in Scotland, which is owned by a farm. Overnight delivery is £10. The haggis in Aldi was gluten free so dispatched husband as there was nothing saying 'Scottish stores only'. Not a whiff of a haggis to be had 😥

Wanted some of the Specially Selected pesto alla genovese and he couldn't find that either. It's made with olive oil and pine nuts and more authentic than most.

Lidl soft toy raccoons went on sale today and husband grabbed two in between meetings. I had sent a link to the Lidl Christmas ad to my cousin in Canada and she loved it. (She wasn't impressed with the Michael Bublé ad for ASDA).

I seem to win something about every 3 scratch cards.  Not always worth using of course.  I do like the potato gratins though and would be using yours.

Not much of a fan of the Christmas ads (loved the Sainsbury's Mog one a couple of years back though) but my first thought about the Lidl raccoon ad was odd given that we don't have raccoons in the UK.  And having known them first hand when I lived in Toronto I always thought they were reasonably nasty creatures!!  Putting out the trash was a massive struggle given that the blighters could open even bins sold with a guarantee of being raccoon proof!!  As for Michael - his best ads were the ones where he was going around defacing cherry Bubble pop displays.  Loved those! (but only in Canada as they say.....)

They have been known to attack young children. Lidl can keep the vermin.

@Katiehound - seen it although I don't see what all the fuss is about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NimhAOi-RXQ . I bet M&S Romford would love the same attention though!

Perhaps because it was a normal story rather than that of Venus fly trap growing into a tree? or even people growing into Christmas trees! (Both of which I guess cost a small fortune to produce.)

  • They mentioned that ad on the news the other night so I looked it up. I love it, it's certainly a better message than most/all of the other ads this year. Imo.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.
  • Lidl have a "Vineyard" range of wines and Aldi have "Grapevine", which are only £4.09 a bottle! Now, I'm no expert but I do drink a variety of wines, in a range of prices and I find these perfectly acceptable. Especially for the price.

I've seen it and think it's very heart warming.
Much better than the major supermarkets that are bombarding us with expensive food and expensive gifts.

Got cherry liqueurs in Aldi. Had not seen them in Lidl this year unless anyone knows different.
Was hoping to get the £4.95 a kilo beef in Aldi that someone mentioned and is also on their website.
Alas, there wasn't any, not really surprised at that price.
