£7-£8k for Aircon system

I suppose one advantage of using the ducts is that you can incorporate a really good air filter, maybe even an electrostatic one if you wished. Whereas the ductless ones typically just have the plastic mesh in front of the scroll fan which doesn't stop the small stuff and means the units need a deep clean from time to time.1

Thanks, good points.
There’s also the operating noise. Not so much outside as in.
The two 7.5kw outdoor units would be wall mounted above the garage roof with space
behind them for maintenance.
On the other side of the wall is the stairwell and hallway.
Hopefully shouldn’t be a problem.
To keep costs down, they’ve suggested a couple of Toshiba condensing units:

Original budget was £7k for heating so I may propose fitting one for downstairs only.
Many multisplits are installed for partial heating/cooling so bedrooms could be electric radiators as they’re rarely occupied.
UPDATE:
Multi split for downstairs only is just under £7k.
Condenser unit and three heads.
I’ll need to do something to get off my current E10
tariff as EON are putting prices up from 1st Oct.
Low 16.286p
Normal 25.124p
Standing charge 28.669p
I think aircon down and electric radiators up on a competitive single rate tariff will see lower bills.1 -
Multi split aircon going in today. Pipework was installed yesterday.

Looking good! Really pleased to see this is going ahead, and can't wait to hear back from you over the coming weeks and months on how it works out in practice.

All up and running.
Weather’s quite mild at the moment but the air handlers really kick out some heat.
Fans are very quiet on low setting.

So your system is aircon, not heat pump? I find your prices are a bit high, my aircon unit was 3.3K, multisplit 1x condenser and 3 x units.1

In winter it will warm his home, in summer it will cool it.Your system sounds interesting, although if it's only aircon it's a lot less versatile than a proper bidirectional heat pump. Could you give some more info?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

Maybe the same thing as a heat pump, not sure.
From what the guys were saying, an ASHP is for wet systems.
Regarding cost, I didn’t really have any other options for prices or companies.

ASHPs can be air-to-air or air-to-water. The former is more commonly known as air conditioning but an air conditioner that uses a heat pump will be vastly more energy efficient than one that doesn't and not all air conditioners have a heating mode. So an air-to-air heat pump is an air conditioner but an air conditioner is not necessarily an air-to-air heat pump.Reed2
