  • KK,
April2 is right. Ditch the talk unlimited 24 package and go to their 3-2-1 basic package. The calls will only be 3p each with 1899. I realise that you probably claim the money back from the company, but until they reimburse you, you are still needlessly out of pocket by a greater amount than necessary.

so what option do i go to,when phoning? i pay over £100 a month and have all three services, i think it costs that much because we have 4 set top boxes.

    Anyone help?

    Thanks

We currently pay: Family plus Sports and Movies Package - £50.50
3 Add Set top box rent - £45 (We get the other box free)
    1MB Broadband - £17.99
    Fully itemised billing - £1

Total: £114.49 + the costs of calls i make so it could go up to £120.

Do you think we can get any sort of discount? We have the standard 321 telephone service so we only pay for the calls we make.

Also what can i say to get a discount?

    Thanks

Tell them you're going back to BT and thinking of getting Sky and see how they react!
  • stuartw101,
you are a cash cow for NTL. With a monthly spend like that, they will bite their arms off to keep you. Phone on the customer retentions number, say that you want to know how you go about leaving NTL. They'll have a look at your account (then gasp) and ask why. Tell them that you can get 2mb broadband for what they are charging you for 1mb (£17.99 from https://www.supanet.com). They will counter with "This will mean having to get a BT line" Reluctantly you will agree and say if that has to be the case then so be it. Aim to get your 1mb broadband for no more than £10.50/month.
Say that the TV package plus the additional boxes is just something that you cannot now afford. So you are getting a friend's (who is upgrading to Sky+) hand me down freeview box with a top up card for the main TV and then cheap and cheerful freeview boxes from ASDA for £35 each for the other rooms. They will have paid for themselves within 3 months at the rate you are charged rent by NTL for the other boxes you currently have.
As for the phone, make sure that you are not being charged line rental for your 3-2-1 package- it should be free if you have TV and BB with them. Carry on using 1899 to make calls on the 0808 number ;)

    Good luck.

Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

I had my bill reduced by £10 off family pack for 6 months when I phoned in December - now back to £47 for 1MB broadband, family pack and telephone. Has anyone managed to secure a repeat reduction after their offer period ended?

I notice that they are pushing £9.99 for 1MB in our local shopping centre (Leeds St Johns and on their website http://www.home.ntl.com/icat/broadband) and another offer of 3 for £30.

    Many thanks

On the basis of "if you don't ask you don't get" I tried the same approach with Telewest. Nothing doing, sadly. (The chap I spoke to was aware of NTL's tactics.)
  • Telewest were the pioneers of the 3 for £30 deal... I still can't get their radio ads out of my head. lol
