I'm an NTL customer and i'm fed up with them, i double check my bill every month because i don't trust them!! I too have been offered discounts and offers only to have them taken away 2 months later..
The latest thing they are trying is to charge me £10 for "late payment fee" , has anyone heard of this before because i have'nt?
Can they charge a fee for something they have never mentioned to me before?0 -
Loz - according to their website, they have introduced a late payment charge since 1 April this year.
They have a terrible communications team! They spend plenty of money telling me about their deals for new customers (!) but none about the new charges. I never knew about a late charge.
On a happier note, I rang them today to ask how much just the telephone and broadband would cost as I wanted to get a freeview box. They immediately suggested a new offer of having all three for £32.99 per month. That's a £7 drop each month. :j
I said I would take the deal until I decide when to get the freeview box.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
I have just "made the call"
Previously my ntl package was ........ 1mb broadband 17.99
talk unlimited 24 14.50
base pack & phone line 21.50
Total per month 53.99
After going through the "talk talk" plan with them, they have now agreed to reduce my monthly fee to £30 per month for the next 3 months!! :j :j Once the 3 months is almost up I will contact them again to see what they can offer me !
Anyone who hasn't "made the call" yet ......... what are you waiting for!!!!!!!0 -
Firstly I'd like to say a BIG thank you to all the people on this forum. and to the money saving expert who started it.:money::A THANKS.
Been with NTL since 1996. (used to be called 'COMTEL' then) At the time they were offering a deal of telephone and TV for £9.99 or you could choose to have 2 phone lines instead of the TV. Which is what I went for. Then when they became NTL the price went up to £11.99. line rental for the 2 lines, still not too bad, I thought considering they were charging £10.50 for 1 line. £1.49 for an extra line. :j
This is what I was paying...
£11.99 for 2 phone lines.
£17.99 for 1meg broadband.
£2.00 for talk unlimited local.
Total £31.98 plus call charges on the 3 2 1 deal.
After reading the posts here, I plucked up the courage and phoned NTL on 0800 052 9403 (option 2) a couple of weeks ago spoke to a lady and she offered me the following....
My 2 lines on the 24 talk unlimited and 1meg broadband for £21.89 for 6 months, when I pushed for more she wouldn't budge saying if I wanted more, I would have to pay more. So I agreed to the £21.89 deal. Still a saving of over £10.00.:j Total time of phone call about 45 minutes.
Today I phoned them again saying I was still very unhappy with what they had offered me, particullarly with the 6 months and that I was looking for something a bit more permanent and also with the 1meg broadband, so I was offered....
2 lines on 24 talk unlimited
2meg broadband (going up to 4meg next month)
for £22.99 per month for 12 months.
I said that if I go back to BT I would have more offers and deals open to me, and mentioned that I might be interested in a TV package too. Any way to cut a long story short, this is what I managed to get today.....
2 lines on 24 talk unlimited....
10meg broadband.....(Already on it as I write this, I've done the speed test)
and Basic TV package.....(she said they could come round tommorrow afternoon to install the TV box)
@ £27.99 per month. for the next 12 months.
If someone could let me know if this a good deal or not. It would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.:beer:0 -
I think that's a very good deal. I have Talk Unlimited on one phone line, 1mb broadband and basic TV for £32.99.

Please does anyone know if you can order ntl then cancel in there 30 day money back period in the hope that retentions may over you a better deal, if you say you've seen something better.
Any Suggestions

There's certainly nothing to stop you trying. The opening deals NTL are giving new customers are very good anyway, but only last for a short time (3 months I think). I think it's very likely they'll extend the offer to 12 months if you threaten to cancel, but bear in mind there are no guarantees.0 -
Just gave NTL a call and was offered this....
Original package was
1MB BB for 17.99
Family pack tv + phone line 30.50
321 phone 0
=48.49 + calls.
Now on
1MB BB for 9.99 for 6 months
Family pack + phone line for 20.75
no change for phone offered.
= 30.74 per month a saving of 17.75 per month for the next 6 months.
Probably not as good a deal as some others got but as I'm rubbish at blagging stuff i thought i did ok.0 -
