Don't people realise they don't have to use the pump on the same side of their car's fuel cap?

Didn’t seem to bother this guy;...that’s the kind of service we need to bring back! 😁

Having a two seater with a long boot it was relatively easy to get the hose to the other side but meant the boot got covered in grime... not the end of the world but prefer to stick to the right side unless there are big queues
A: The hoses are fitted with 'rubber rings' that slid down the hose and act as a buffer between the hose and paint
B: It's very easy to hold the hose away from the paint with one hand and fill with the other.
C; Lease companies don't punish micro scratches.0 -

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -

2) My comment was that they made the car's boot lid dirty... I disagree that was a gross exaggeration
A) Not at the stations around hereDepends on the pump design/hose length etc.. certainly some of the self retracting ones are very difficult to as often at max length of the pipe and there's a reasonable amount of recoil for like the Mrs to hold it for a minute or two up in the air far enough across the boot to keep it off the far side
C) Repeating that my comment wasn't that it can cause scratches but if you accept other's statements that it can then the combined impact of 4 years of weekly filling could exceed the limit0 -

I assume you mean, you were waiting for the pump to be authorised but, normally, all the cashier can see in that process is that you are there and not wearing crash helmet etc. (so less likely to fuel-and-run). I don't think they can see the fuel cap clearly and certainly the cashier won't remember every fueling point for every car. Unless they said that the reason was wrong side over the Tannoy, I think you can assume it was some other reason.
Unless you were standing ready like the lady with the Mini:Biggus_Dickus said:

The don't need to know every fueling point. If they see you standing at the car on the opposite side to the pump then it tends to give the game away.0 -
I'll chirp in here... I decided to do this once, I was driving someone else's car at the time so parked at the wrong side to the petrol cap.
I grabbed the hose and pulled it over the car....it didn't reach, turns out this Tesco garage didn't have long hoses.
Never done it again because I looked like a right idiot.0 -
I just fill up at quiet times e.g early morning or late night and avoid fuel forecourts during rush hour times.
Oh and I'm sick of hearing people say that ALL cars have an arrow pointing where the fuel flap is. FALSE - my previous 3 cars never had such arrow.0 -
