Don't people realise they don't have to use the pump on the same side of their car's fuel cap?

Please can all keep doing what you arfe doing abd only filling up on the tank side. Makes my life so much easier and quicker.0

I’ve been driving since 1997 and never had an issue with pulling the hose over to the other side of my car
It’s incredibly simple. You use one of your hands to hold the nozzle and your other hand to support the hose so you aren’t making contact with the car. I also wear the supplied gloves
I do this whilst others are queuing whilst parked opposite free pumps1 -
Personally I can’t as it hurts my wrists when I pull the hose across.
I’ve also been moaned at by customers at the petrol station for queuing to use the pump on the same side as the cars filler (not sure why it’s any of their business or why it bothers them, I don’t block anyone) I am a youngish male, so they probably assume I am in perfect health.
Just concentrate on your own life and problems.3 -
I'm sure I read / was told once that if you stretch the fuel hose to the other side of the car you get a very small amount of extra fuel compared to filling from the same side.
Almost certainly codswallop but.....Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0 -

The OP seems to be assuming that every car in the garage at that time had the fuel filler on the same side?0

My car doesn't have a removable filler cap and most hoses round here won't pull far enough to allow the nozzle to go in at the right angle. It if doesn't go all the way in then it won't work. Bit of a pain and I've always used either side until I got this car, so now I can either pull up, try it and move if it's not long enough or wait a few mins and know it'll fit first time without dripping fuel over my car.0

I will use the opposing one; however...I have to be careful not to scrape the car with the hose.I find I have to brace the hose with one hand whilst controlling the flow with the other. When pulling the hose across the car, you often get the nozzle upside down and a bit of petrol dribbles out onto the car.The gap between the two aisles of cars may be narrow if the car(s) behind have finished and want to drive through to get out.0

I would like to assure those who are worried about the hose scratching their car. In the very unlikely event that a scratch did occur the car would continue to function exactly as expected. It would continue to take the passengers and luggage to it's destination.0
