Switched to 12m Fix gas - but it's produced an email telling me that the switch doesn't start until the end of March, which is when my 12/23 Tracker ends. Odd - but I'm sure it can be corrected tomorrow over the phone. Just something to be aware of.
If you switch to 12M Fix immediately then you are effectively ending your tracker tariff early. This means you can’t go back to tracker for nine months.

Would it not be better to let your current tracker tariff run out until you switch??

It might well - though I'm leaving the electric on tracker. My doubts surround what'll happen to the gas price over the worst winter months still to come, particularly with the news today of the Ukrainian pipeline. Dwindling stored gas in mainland Europe with a reduced facility to top up may well affect the price. Who knows, though? It's all guesswork.

I may well leave things as they are, though, because if the gas gets really silly there's always the option to hop off onto SVT.

I would like to check my thoughts with you guys as you are so knowledgeable.

I live alone (but have many occasions where family visit to stay and so increase my electricity and gas!) and have both gas and electricity on tracker Dec23 like many. I do not have an electric car or solar panels. Last year I used  3000 kWh electricity and 11500kWh gas.

I too have had the renewal emails and think I will saty on tracker for electricity but am considering fixing for gas.
This seems to be the general advice - anything I should consider?

If I request these changes to take place as my tracker finishes in mid Feb and then in a month I feel I want to return my gas to tracker (if the prices dont shoot up as feared) will that work?

Last question - if I want to ask for these changes on twitter (and I have a twitter account but just use it to browse and not post) how do I do it?

Thanks everyone and Happy new year!

a fix for the gas is no brainier imo, as for your electric have you thought of agile, can you go lighly between 4pm-7pm
and yes twitter is the best option to talk to octopus, starting with your name address and acc numbers, it saves them asking for it

I am also currently on the Octopus Dec '23 tracker. I have today arranged a 12 month octopus fix on just gas starting 15th Feb. I did it through twitter, very straight forward.

    Standing charge is 29.86p

    Unit rate 6.08p kwh

I've decided to take up the fix for Gas. It's been great for a few years but I'm happy to hedge given the current outlook.

    5.85 pkw with 29.34p standing.

Will likely stick with the tracker for Electricity for now.

I've got the email to say Tracker gas tariff coming to an end but we're having a heat pump installed in January, so the gas meter will be removed by that date anyway.

It's been good while it lasted, saved me plenty.
