Octopus Tracker

I'm also on tracker for gas (Eastern region). I paid approx 4.4p average over the last 12 months but the prices are rising so it's very unlikely that will be the figure for the next year, last 2 months is 5.5p, so I'm very much considering a fix. 12 month fix is at 5.74p for me (tracker is 6.01p today)Archerychick said:
Over the last 12 months we've used 5175KWH, which isn't really that much, we've paid £328.82 (£95 standing charge and £212 in unit costs). That works out to be 4p for usage, so fixing for 6p per unit doesn't seem to make much sense.0 -
You can check using the Octopus Compare app, although the past couple of months have been an anomaly with very high Agile prices (at the time when we had higher unit rates on Tracker too, of course).jaxkesa said:
I don't think my usage suits agile as I'll likely be using more elec around that time.northernstar007 said:jax dont bother with email, twitter is your best bet
have you thought of looking on agile if you can go easy between 4-7pm
[The app is free to see up to 30 days' data; if you want more then a subscription is required but there's a free trial before paying anything which might be all you need.]1 -
Our tracker ends march 4th (Dec 23) so same twitchy bum time for the gas, 12m fix for Merseyside region is 6.08, tracker currently 6.36, think jumping before it gets silly, but keep electric until end of tracker0

I have just been examining in All our Tariffs the very latest Tracker Dec 24 v1 [currently showing 24.34 p/kWh for here in the North East] as against the current Agile [showing 38.18 p/kWh], In both cases SC = 70.05 p/day. I have yet to see if Compare can process both for me. In the interim I was wondering if any of the informed contributors to this thread had any initial thoughts on the "new arrival".
In the past I seemed to find that Agile was better than expected considering my "low load shift" profile.Telegraph Sam

Change of view. Gas fix starting immediately for a year. Tracker option available again in October in the unlikely event that it becomes competitive again. Electric stays on Tracker 12/23.Doc_N said:
It might well - though I'm leaving the electric on tracker. My doubts surround what'll happen to the gas price over the worst winter months still to come, particularly with the news today of the Ukrainian pipeline. Dwindling stored gas in mainland Europe with a reduced facility to top up may well affect the price. Who knows, though? It's all guesswork.tfspark said:
If you switch to 12M Fix immediately then you are effectively ending your tracker tariff early. This means you can’t go back to tracker for nine months.Doc_N said
Switched to 12m Fix gas - but it's produced an email telling me that the switch doesn't start until the end of March, which is when my 12/23 Tracker ends. Odd - but I'm sure it can be corrected tomorrow over the phone. Just something to be aware of.Would it not be better to let your current tracker tariff run out until you switch??
I may well leave things as they are, though, because if the gas gets really silly there's always the option to hop off onto SVT.0 -
Which is or are the fixed gas offers that folk are using to compare with Tracker gas??Telegraph Sam

I managed to lock in a fix a month or so ago at 5.74p/kWh
So I exited the tracker after it's full completion (and therefore i can rejoin at any time) at just the right time it seems.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)0 -

In the past I seemed to find that Agile was better than expected considering my "low load shift" profile. Are you sure that the standing charge is seventy pence? That seems awfully high, although I know there are regional variations.Edit: Looks like it checks out. Northern region has the highest SC set for the price cap, the only one north of 70p.0 -
That's what All our Tariffs is telling me [70.05 p SC for both]. I have yet to do a gas comparisonTelegraph Sam

Yes, it seems you have an unlucky postcode, though you save a little on unit price compared to other regions. I'm very confident that your bills would be lower under Agile assuming wholesale prices don't regularly visit the heights we were treated to last month.
