Not much of a gamble if you’re a high user, because the early exit payments become trivial. I’m on an 18 month fix for gas, with a £50 exit charge, £50 is nothing by comparison with the savings against Tracker.

That's double what I am paying now.

But I suppose when the prices are low they are less than what I am paying.

Unless there’s a fix in the Middle East, the looming gas shortage could see it hit the maximum 30p this winter. Stocks in Europe are far too low because everyone was waiting for the lower prices that didn’t materialise.

After 3 years on Tracker I changed my gas to flexible a few days ago. Can’t see it coming down anytime soon and we are using more now it’s got colder. I have left the electric on Tracker, only use about 5 units a day and we do have a few cheap days.

Since I fixed my gas from Tracker in March (Eastern) at 5.07p the average tracker rate is 7.47p, today it's 10.63p .I am very lucky fortunately.

Even higher for the weekend @ 11.33p/kWh; meanwhile, tomorrow's electricity Tracker is 13.99p/kWh.
