Octopus Tracker

There's been an expectation for some time that Trump will have to find some way of settling the Iran mess before the mid-term elections. That seems to be evaporating now, and it's hitting both interest rates and energy prices. And, of course, it's summer. My 4.62p gas fix ends in October and I've resisted the temptation to re-fix so far, in the expectation that things will improve after an Iran settlement. That's also been Martin Lewis's advice. I think I'm going to have to bite that bullet pretty soon - with a jump of around 39% at today's prices.

I'm still with Tracker for gas.
Currently using around 200kWh a month for HW and cooking, which is affordable.
Might have to look at switching tariff if prices are still this high when October comes around!

I will be interested to see what you and others decide to do for the winter. I came off gas tracker when my contract ran out last spring and I'm currently on the cap tariff of 7.5p. Need to do something for winter.

I am also sticking with Gas Tracker on the theory that over the long run it should be slightly cheaper than other options, unless you manage to fix for a year or more at an opportune time which I did not.
However - I have also started to investigate on the side the option to install a supplementary air to air heat pump system at a couple of strategic locations in our house - in the early research phase at the moment and would probably involve adding an extra house battery to the system as well.

For what it’s worth, I’ve just switched early from my nice cheap 4.62p Ecotricity fix to one with Fuse at 7.0p. 18 month fix, £50 penalty. East Midlands. The comment for today in the link below clinched it for me, but only time will tell whether it’s a good move. £50 early exit isn’t bad though for a high user.

Despite my optimistic post 36 hours ago, I've just jumped ship to Fuse for gas too. 18 month fix, £50 exit fee. Goodbye Tracker until at least May next year (9 months from now).

Is anyone risking it with the tracker? Obviously all the fixes are now close to the price cap
