There could be a new formula for Tracker or even Agile tomorrow

Unlikley imo as they have, in the past, released that info at least 2 weeks earlier on the tracker faqs page.

    But you never know.

I honestly think Octopus know they overdid it on the July formula so will just leave that as is.
I suspect Octopus will just make Tracker less and less competitive until the vast majority ditch it altogether. It was a convenient marketing/publicity tool in earlier times (as as the once excellent customer service) but it's no longer needed now that Octopus is so well known. I'm on the 12/23 version, and I'm sticking for now. I doubt I'll renew though.

Hi folks, I’m a very amateur Tracker customer - check the daily rates & put off lots of washing or drying if it’s going to be cheaper tomorrow, but that’s about it  :)  I’m on the Dec 23 Tracker.

Saw the comments above about switching to the 15 month fix - it does seem a better value fix than most, but still seems a bit pricier than the approx average in Tracker…? Are there strong reasons to consider fixing right now?

    Any advice welcome 🙏
because you will have a end date coming up this dec, this new 15mth deal will cover u for all of next year

Unlikely someone on Dec 23 Tracker will have to give it up before mid-February 2025. It was available until April and most were moved to it in two tranches in Feb-Mar.
  • My thinking is to go along with Masonics views and resist for the moment calls to jump ship over to something fixed, not forgetting the service records of some of the alternatives. My gut feeling is that what drives Tracker prices (wholesale prices) is different from the (variable) retail prices that we are being encouraged to switch from. Is there a direct link?

Martin has been commenting on social media that wholesale prices dropped after the price cap was set, but customers won't get the benefit until January. Fixed prices will reflect the energy company's best guess as to what will happen to wholesale prices over the term. So I am quite glad that they are looking competitive, but I am not tempted to lock in to a 4p higher standing charge and 2-4p higher unit price based on recent trends. I will take my chances regarding WW3 breaking out.
  • on the fix for gas, the latest tracker price v's fix = 5.49 v's 5.52

The latest Tracker is Oct 2024. This is slightly cheaper than Jul 2024. Gas is down 0.1p in my region (not that I have gas).
  • Eastern formulae are slightly lower for October version than July.  That's good to know, I was completely wrong  (and happy to be).
  • Is this a result of the underlying regional  conversion formlae rather than differences in the (retail) prices?
