I have been discussing this with Octopus by email for about 4 months but they have yet to come up with any reason why this happens or offer a solution but have mostly been able to "find" the missing data. My latest email has been escalated to be a "complaint".0

The most recent forum correspondence on billings etc confirms to me the Heath Robinson procedure that I have adopted up to now. The presence or otherwise of a smart meter is an important factor to take into account in each reported scenario. I switched to a smart meter for electric some time back but deliberately stayed manual for gas. Throughout I have used the belt & braces approach of giving manual meter readings once a month (to me daily readings are OTT) on the original read dates for both fuels. Octopus seem to be able to live with the dual readings for electric, in fact they seem to give preference to my manual reads. This gives me some kind of a handle on what's going on without getting submerged in the fine detail as some forumites are willing to do. The upside is that I am not aware of any gaps or averages. The downside is that if there are any then I live in blissful ignorance. If I wanted to extend my vetting "upstream" to the source data - wholesale market prices, gas conversion factors etc, I would have to find out how and then I suspect that this could become time consuming extra work.Telegraph Sam

Mine came through as normal. Are you seeing your current data in the apps? Might be worth making a quick call to Octopus.

Since I finally persuaded Octopus to raise just one bill per month, I haven't wanted to rock the boat by submitting a manual reading. That would almost certainly trigger another bill. When I remember I take a manual read on the 1st, just in case. So far it's not been needed as the proper bill has always been raised on the 2nd, covering the preceding calendar month.
My manual reading just serves as a sanity check. It won't exactly match as I read next day, not at midnight. I suppose for the paranoid I should save occasional readings with photos, maybe once a year or something.0 -

For what it's worth I posted previously that I appear to have reached a tacit agreement with Octopus that I have continued to submit monthly manual reads before and after my smart meter was installed for Tracker electric. It seems that the (single) monthly bills are geared to the manual reads even though the timings of the two reads more or less coincide.
Has any reader experienced a case of precisely this not working in harmony???Telegraph Sam
