Boris_Blank said:I've been on Octopus Tracker since July last year. Problems only recently occurred and I've not had any Gas usage data available since 23rd February (neither online nor the app). The Electricity usage data works as it should.
Up until midnight on 18th Feb, gas data usage information was working correctly then there was no data for the 19th, 20th and 22nd Feb with absolutely nothing as of 24th Feb I tried the Bright app but that too did not provide any gas usage data, it had previously worked before.
I contacted Octopus saying that the online/app gas usage data was missing and got a reply back that basically said "we've got the info, don't worry". Gave it another week and still no data so I wrote again, supplied some further details about numerous dropped network connections on the IHD that I'd just noticed which might be relevant. They came back and said try resetting and/or relocating the IHD (which I had already tried before contacting them ) but I tried again but it was fruitless. Got back on to Octopus with more evidence of numerous daily network disconnects on the IHD plus the ongoing missing gas data usage but I've heard nothing since.
I've supplied end of month meter readings which have been used for billing purposes.
I have Smets1 smart-meters which Octopus can read but I'm guessing its a problem with the gas smart-meter rather than Octopus perhaps?
The info for elec is coming through just fine on the app, but nothing now for gas.
I'm going to take a manual reading now to "force" a bill then from that I can see if I've been billed for daily use or averaged out.0 -
Off the current topic but since I'm on my laptop and thinking about it:
I'm just coming out of a health crash after a few months that have had too big a mental load to try and work out our Tracker savings for last year, so decided to see if I could make a start on getting the spreadsheet up to date. It's not going well! Somewhat struggling to understand my own spreadsheet *sigh*
Also looking at gastracker.uk savings feature, is that using the actual tariff I was on? The figures don't tally with the ones I already have from 2023 (gastracker savings are lower than what I'd manually worked out).0 -
@let_the_wookie_win : Fom a pragmatic point of view if you can provide them with (monthly rather than daily) manual reads does that not provide a quick rather than hi-tec fix? At the expense of being "averaged" if this makes a great difference.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -

for me my consumption for a handful of days are completely missing because of a communication failure. But they can’t tell me what they’re doing about it 🤷♀️.
Mine looks ok since 3rd Feb but I haven’t had a complete month since November and that has billing knock on impacts. They will the averaged out your whole month, so you might be worse off, I don’t know.
i am currently submitting a daily meter reading, whilst they ‘investigate’. Not much more I can do I don’t think, only issue with that is it’s generating regular bills 🤦♀️.
They unused to be significantly more responsive than they are at the moment and that’s likely because of the huge amount of customers they’ve taken on.
They may, out of being nice, run another pull of data for you but that's at their discretion and not guaranteed.
I agree they do seem much busier than before but suggest X as the best communication1 -
I've had my Tracker renewal offer come through - I'm on Tracker V1 (the original).
My official renewal date is May 1st but I assume the standing charges increase on April 1st?
The standing charges are leaping sky high for me from the V1 levels [🥲] so whatever I do it will add several 100s of £s to my bill. Thus won't I be a wee bit better off leaving Tracker V1 for a new tracker a month early? Say March 30th?0 -

Say March 30th?I don't see why your standing charges would change before your renewal. 1st April is only relevant to price-capped SVR tariffs. If you've been told that you'll be moving to Tracker Dec 2023 then your standing charges will be the same as everyone else who has been moved. I doubt they would bring out another new version between now and May with different standing charges.Yes, the standing charges will be painful to endure through the summer. They'll probably make up the majority of my energy bill.Interesting that they do seem to be gradually working their way through all Tracker customers.2 -

1) I didn't realise this rise only has an impact on SVR - I thought it may feed through to Tracker. So no need for me to rush. 6 more weeks to appreciate my deal.
2) I've been told that I'll go on the 'current version' they haven't mentioned December 2023 - although that is the current version at the moment.
3) The SC leap from V1 adds 100s to my annual bill which is how I think - annually - my monthly DD is always the same. And I'm a relatively low user. I don't have solar or batteries.
4) I have always, since the beginning of Tracker, had fixed annual dates - it was made quite clear to me that they would honour this (the date) - so I don't think that they have 'got round to it'.
5) I know I have been fortunate to stay on V1 although there were times tracker went high in the first year or two. However, as I live in one of the highest SC areas this leap adds to a bill in which during the last year or so, I already rationed heating. Such is life, there's people worse off than me.... La puta vida!0 -

Octopus could launch a new current version whenever they choose with higher standing charges for most regions affecting new switchers and customers coming off fixed term versions.0 -

So I replied as soon as @masonic clarified that the Tracker SC is not affected by the SVR changes.0 -

Agile for electricity worth a look, seems to be cheaper for many people than current tracker version, no 9 month waiting time to return if come off agile, if sign up to Agile have 28 days to accept T+C, again in the past Octopus have honoured version signed up to should a new version be launched prior to T+C being accepted.1
