But I suppose this should also affect the trackers which for customers have been renewed on the same terms with new fixed dates. (which based on your response would mean Octopus loses EPG subsidy for those customers).

Did your cap and SC change post renewal?
This is a little odd, Agile and Tracker have both always been tagged as 'flexible' in the tariff lists, not fixed.

The older Tracker tariffs have been renewing without any changes so far...

Yeah its inconsistent, putting my speculation hat on I guess Octopus just are more willing to subsidise tracker (assuming its correct they stated all these tariffs are loss making).

Its has always been marked as fixed in the dashboard though (fixed until XX date).

However that also applies to the tracker tariff, as my gas tracker says the same thing.

Worth noting Tracker v1 caps neither had any potential or actual benefit from EPG reduction as was below the threshold/floor.

Agile and Tracker current versions are the only Octopus currently available tariffs standing charges did not increase on 1 April, Flux, Cosy, Go, Intelligent and Flexible all increased.

Did the newer trackers, get renewed though (v3 and newer) (the ones with EPG subsidy), I think you or someone else said they did.

v1, v2 fixed term dates ending after a certain date + v3 renewal emails no auto renewals to tracker tariff, do nothing default to flexible, needed to contact then to stay on tracker which should mean need a smart meter to go on current tracker version.

v3 started approx 29 April 2022, earliest expiries have only very recently happened.

    Losing track of it all.

We had that DM that was posted here on twitter which indicated Octopus changed how they were buying energy post EPG, but didnt clarify if this change was for all tracker type tariffs or just for the ones that had a EPG discount.

Someone posted here a week or more ago that was at least one posted who renewed on v3 with same terms, I cant remember who it was though, and cant be bothered to track back in the topic.

So if I understand you right.

early v1, v2 adopters got to stay on their existing tariff with a new fixed term renewal.

late v1, v2 adopters plus later trackers, manual renewal and on top of that are put on the latest tracker not kept on the better old one.

Agile would seem to be same policy then as the late tracker sign ups.

I think you are mistaken about v3 renewed on same terms.

Relevance of how Octo Chief stated they bought energy last summer is they lost lots money with customers being on tracker/agile compared with what they could have got had flexible been the only option - .EPG floor kWh rate for consumers + EPG discount they were guaranteed with flexible customers compared with tracker/agile that has been mostly below EPG level, lost loads more by continuing to offer tracker without smart meter requirement until middle February due to HDUK publicity + low day ahead prices.

With the renewals now happening do you need to have a smart meter on the day of renewal or just a commitment to have one installed?

If they have a consistent policy need to have a smart meter in order to go on current tracker version, end of fixed term email notifications have been getting sent out about 6 weeks prior.

Will be interesting to hear about the earliest renewal e-mails sent to Tracker customers without a smart meter - I wonder who that will be, here?  Certainly not us, we signed up last August (just snuck in on the July tariff).
